    Thanks Rick, just came in and saw this video. I'm not sure if there is a drone, I have not seen or studied, and/or worked on, in some way(s)...

    Yet, I thank you for this, always, this stuff never gets boring or old to me, never has. I began working with drones, moreso- UCAVS (Un-manned Combat Aerial Vehicles) way back when we were installing the first auto-pilot systems, and terrain following radar; for the L-1011 Tristar, best jumbo jet ever built, hell best Commercial Jet still ever built, if you ask any old pilot...(who was fortunate to be assigned to Tristars)..

    Get this, unbelievable old feat: Every single L-1011 was delivered to the Customers, via "hands free"; auto-pilot programming. From take off to landing over seas. Not once was an adjustment by the Pilot ever required...

    It was also the first and only plane to have incredible those radar systems; unlike no other, especially for its time, and it was 40 yrs ahead of its time.

    With those 2nd to none systems, the L-1011 was Certified by the FAA to land on solid ICE, in a White Out Blizzard, with Crosswinds up to 50 mph. Some of its earliest testing were done at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota during winter. No other AC, has ever been given those certifications or designations...

    Ellsworth is hell, often hitting 40 below zero, with very very strong winds, and white out conditions....

    It's biggest competitor in the early 70s, was of course the 747s, and DC-10 POS...The DC-10 #2 rear engine, could only be throttled at 20% of its maximum thrust capability, due too its dumbass design of having the engine mounted atop the plane, .... that much could easily cause Vertical Stabilizer control probs. Now the L-1011 with its interior S-Ducts, beginning atop the AC, with only a nacelle (engine air inlet), while the engine itself for the Tristars were mounted into the rear of the Fuselages, mounted into a solid Inconel and Titanium thrust structure, 2nd biggest thrust structure I've ever seen on any Commercial AC. The biggest by far of course was that of the Space Shuttles....

    The L-1011 #2 (rear) Engine, could be throttled all up 100%, and was enough thrust (Rolls Royce Engines), to power and fly the entire AC on that one engine alone. Or any of the other two engines, solo without aide of the others, during ore-certification tests...

    Not only were the RR engines stronger, more powerful, they were quieter than any other AC engine, thus nicknamed "The Whisperliner"...

    Notice this is the Saudi Version. One one of those, we installed (NO Shit), a fkng golden throne for a Sheik. Other than that one Saudi L-1011, the rest were filled to the hilts with appliances, refrigerators, ovens, stoves, Refrigerators, you name it, they were fully packed with goods. The man who owned the only independent appliances shop became a multi-millionaire from those sales alone....see Wiki below

    The L-1011 featured a highly advanced autopilot system and was the first widebody to receive FAA certification for Cat-IIIc autolanding, which approved the TriStar for completely blind landings in zero-visibility weather performed by the aircraft's autopilot.[23] The L-1011 used an Inertial Navigation System (INS) to navigate;[24][25] this included aligning the navigation system by entering current coordinates of longitude and latitude.
