If the Knicks do indeed go after Howard as has been rumored, they are going to need someone to take on RoLo's salary. Any interest?
12 mil for a starting caliber center is NOT overpaid. Pretty certain that Plums and Meyers will get contracts in that vicinity. I'd give him a look in case we can't find anyone better. My lack of high interest for him has more to do with fit on the floor and skillset, not his contract.
He will be getting 13-14 mil per year the next three years. We have been saying all year that we need a rim protector to go with the rest of our bigs. Part of a center by committee. He does have good size, but he also has slow feet. We could do worse, but I would say no. I am hoping we can find someone younger, cheaper, and quicker.
Despite not particularly wanting him back, I do love RoLo......but don't we have that younger, cheaper and quicker center in Plumlee??? Plums might not be the be all and end all, but IMHO he's a better option...and fit for this team...than RoLo. Lopez would end up taking Kaman's seat at the end of the bench....at two plus times the salary.
If we only resign our own guys and don't add any significant player in free agency I'd certainly consider it. Rolo has a mid range jumper so I think you could play him at times with Ed Davis or Plumlee. There will be 20 teams with max cap room so that cap room won't have value beyond July 10th as it did this season. The cap is going up another $20 million the following summer in 2017-18 then Robins deal only has one season after that. He is worth more than his contract. So first I would target better free agents; then I would look at 3+D wings. If neither of those happen yes I would consider Lopez. I basically look at him taking over Meyers role which would be a huge upgrade.
Are there any 3+D wings available? We have been discussing Durant, Parson's, DeRosan, and Barnes. None of them really fit the 3+D description. Maybe Barnes, but who else is there?
Nah, I enjoyed RoLo when he was a Blazer but I'm not interested in having him back. Also it kinda seemed like he quit on the team in the playoffs last year. Game 1, 2pts 5rbs Game 2, 10pts, 6rbs Game 3, 4pts, 4rbs Game 4, 6pts, 3rbs Game 5, 4pts, 4rbs I never cared about him scoring but games of 3 and 4 rebounds in not acceptable, doesn't matter who he's matched up against.
Courtney Lee and Kent Bazemore. Maybe Neil flips a second rounder for some unknown guy who ends up starting.
Not at all. We are going to have to pay up with plum Lee soon and I'd rather keep him. We don't have enough minutes for everyone. Right now, I'd rather play plum Lee and Davis at center
I need to watch the Hawks more to get a better opinion of this guy, but I recall really being impressed by him (as a role player) when we played them earlier in the season. He seems like an easy upgrade over Aminu...but I haven't seen him play more than 2-3 times.
He does have a crazy wingspan for a a guy who measures under 6'4". But he is kind of short for a SF. I have not watched him enough either.
I wasn't even aware that he was that short! Does he play SG? I thought he played SF, but could easily be wrong.
He does play SF. His Wingspan though is 6'11.5" . That is pretty damn wide for his height. it does not list his standing reach
yup. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/bazemke01.html 77% of his PT this year has been at SF, 23% at SG. A change definitely from years past. Not too interested in Bazemore. He's almost 3 years older than Crabbe and is about equivalent in terms of impact.
