Interesting. The rumblings remind me of all the LaMarcus chatter we had towards the end of last season. Durant isn't interested in Golden State either. http://newsok.com/article/5483386
If we deep six OKC, we've got to be a main contender for Durant. ETA: though if Durant has THAT BIG of an ego, maybe not.
The addition of Durant would instantly make us a true contender for YEARS TO COME! I know it's a TOTAL pipe-dream, but I can't help but to imagine... LOL!
Kevin.... the Rose City is calling you. Don't let a one time mistake ruin what we could.... what we can have! (Jeez--this is All My Children stuff here!)
I'm not worried about if Dame could make it work with Durant... I'm more worried about if Durant would be able to make it work with Dame. Durant has become more and more unlikable as the years have gone on. I went from liking him, to telling him to stfu on a few occassions. He is EXTREMELY talented... but he needs to be able to work within the team, and to that I have my doubts. His name alone makes us a contender on paper, but does he actually make us a contender... that'd be the real question.
Wanting to be "the guy", wanting it to be "his team": That sounds to me like he's sick to death of Westbrick. He has to know that for a team to get to the finals it's going to take more than just him, and that he's going to have to share the team with another all star. So with that, I'm going to further assume it's more a matter of fit. If Durant thinks he can fit with Dame and if he believes the Blazers would play a team game, where he is a featured star, I think Portland has a shot.
Yeah, if Durant has to be The Guy (though I don't entirely buy that; I think he just wants to play next to a PG who isn't selfish asshat), then Portland isn't for him culturally.
That's what I'm thinking, that he's speaking in code to say that Westbrook is an asshat and needs to go.
I think that's it. I think most likely he just wants to play with a guard who isn't a selfish asshat. Who is also a star level guard. Dame is that guy.
Then Paul Allen, literally the only person who was around back then, can apologize personally over a steak dinner.
Durant could be a LaMarcus Aldridge type of personality on the team. (not a good thing if you live under a rock)
Why would he, honestly, though? #2 overall and he's the best player to come out of that draft. I think he's fine.
If anything it worked out better for him. He ended up on the more successful team (so far). At this point though, clearly Durant would be better off on the Blazers.
Ya ever notice the 0 Lillard has tatted right under his front Right shoulder is the same font as Blazer unis?? Interesting he really might be a lifer
