What did Pritchard give to draft Pendergraph, $2 million and 2 2nd round picks? Might have been 1 pick. It was only a year after teams paid $3 million for 1st round picks, but Pendergraph was only a 2nd round pick, and was a Paul Allen Advantage overpayment that was laughed at around the league. He just shot 1-2 at the line, and acted embarrassed that he had missed the first. In the summer League after his rookie year he used to act embarrassed that he wasn't a star yet. Nothing against him. He just fouled Alex under the basket. Bad acting job didn't work on the ref. A shoots 1-2, tie game at 85.

M dribbles around without getting stripped, a dribbling success. Well, maybe not. Now, the refs hold about the 3rd Official Review of the game, peering at TV screens to make a decision. End of 3rd quarter. Montero was not fouled. The last Official Review was of the same thing, whether M got fouled when being stripped. He's a very tall guard trying to dribble around like he's 6-2 and needs to tighten up the Clyde Drexler long lopes like an antelope.

A gets touched and fouled while trying to get a ball near the basket, says he was shooting, ref says BS, ref is right. A is pleading his case, playing a head game. This is good that he's thinking, not just instinctual, but don't overdo, man.

A is a strong brick wall and when competing to catch a ball, the opponent's hand hits his hand, and guess whose hand bounces off whose hand every time. Then a foul gets called in A's favor. This has happened a few times tonight.

Technical on Josh MaJet! The first and last time we will hear Jet's name tonight! Maybe this will earn him a slot on an NBA team. He should try wearing green fluorescent shoes to get noticed.

Both teams upset over officiating which means the refs are doing a fine, balanced job.

M makes a nifty move dribbling under the basket and passes off to Looney for a basket, except that M stepped on the line. Ayres shoots 1-2 again at the line. He normally shoots over 80%.

MaJet makes a layup! Better yet, I'm noticing the little white guy now. His strategy worked! Brilliant! Memo to D-Leaguers: Always get a technical, every game.

7 minutes left in the game, we're down 97-92.

He spells it Magette, but I don't. Jet is cooler.

Udopia sure misses a lot of shots for a Himalayan Shangri-La. Late in the game, our 2 heroes are out of the game and we find out who the team depends upon. Pendergraph, Looney, Hopson, Kraft, Jones, are these guys on our team or the D-fenders?

Commentator, instead of slowly musing over the history of M and A, is now excited over hustle plays being displayed by these players I'm not interested in.

A is playing. Gomes' first name is Ryan, so he's the guy who was in our old trade, alright. A flubs handling the ball, loses it. A minute later he gets fouled, will go to the line, Perdell Jones cramped up while guarding him, lies on the floor a full minute with trainer assisting, A then hits 1 for 2 free throws.

109-100, 1:45 left. Stadium is 95% full. Saturday night in Surf City. Must be the winter.

M is quite active in jumping and passing off before falling out of bounds. Skilled at averting disasters. Next development step: Don't get into those situations.

M gets a basket for 20 points but the game is over. Ayres makes one from 17. Get your stats up now.

Commentator thought it was over but is surprised our team has come back to 113-108. I think they're playing more motivated than usual because 1) full crowd, 2) all the assigned players taking mid-game minutes have given these real players extra wind at the end of the game. Besides our 2 guys, Santa Cruz has one other player assigned from the NBA, just today, Kevon Looney.

113-110, Gomes at the stripe! 6.5 seconds left. No free throw. New D-League rule this year, you need 6 fouls not 5 to get a FT at the end. Wait I misheard. Gomes makes a FT, score 114-110.

That's the final score. The good news is that our 2 players got a lot of time, were very active, made a lot of mistakes, but also did some things right and showed a lot of promise.

The last few seasons, YouTube has retained every game forever, so I expect so now, too. Game time was 7:00, I woke up at 7:28, panicked at my great responsibility to make this thread work, saw that Darkwebs hadn't given us a beautiful thread, and went to work. I don't know whether the game was in the 1st quarter or 2nd quarter. Went to the bathroom at about the second timeout, made coffee at halftime, didn't need it because I was really chugging, knowing I would let down all my dear compatriots depending upon me for this vital information. If I'd set this up right, I'd have had the Blazer game in another window and been flicking back and forth, but I didn't have time. So after the real game I checked on the Blazer game. I expected to see the thrilling finish, but the score was 100-72, so I checked to see who was in the lead. I got to see Connaughton doing well in the last 4 or 5 minutes.

You guys missed the real game! No blowouts when you get extra points for each quarter you win! Wait, they never mentioned that. That D-League rule must have been cancelled years ago or something. I liked that rule.

I'll go find the boxscore. In previous years, it was vastly superior to the NBA boxscores because there are quarterly ones and ones for each half in a PDF file.

I'm not finding that PDF file with the cool boxscores, but then I feel like a novice once a year when I look for it when we assign a player, so it's probably there somewhere. I think the NBA has them online too for NBA games, but they are available only to the media. The D-League always had them available to the public for their own games.
