It was a rolling puck and he was slashed so I wouldn't say he choked. Not to mention they got a PP out of it that it would've been nice to see them convert as they had momentum at that point.

Problem with Hayes is that he has been benched and scratched before and it has done no good. I don't know how you do it but the only way to truly wake a guy up is to make him fearful of his job.

when was the last time Rick Nash scored a big goal for this team? The dude needs to be shown the door in the offseason. Of course he will come back with another team and score a winning goal against the Rangers with a minute to go.

The guy hasn't played in who knows how long. I'm not going to make him a whipping boy just for the sake of doing so when there's others that deserve it much more.

Also, as much as I hate to throw his name into the mix but what has Zuccarello done the last 30 games or so? I count about 5-6 goals and a couple of them might of been empty netters.

Said it going back to last year. Team has major flaws. It's getting older on defense, slower as a team, especially on defense. Our bumbling defenseman stand one foot in front of our goalie screening him or having pucks bounced off them into the net. This has been a dumb, lazy team since the start of the season. Nothing has changed.

And he made a terrible play today on the 2nd Pens goal. Overall he has had a very good year, but he is very streaky. Disappears and then has some good games and then disappears again. He needs to be more consistent.

There is no doubt they need to get their sh*t together. I always felt that as the games got bigger this team would get better. That guys who have been through the battles over and over and over again were going to struggle to get up for whatever early/mid season games, and would step up later in the season/the playoffs.

Well this past week we have gone backwards. And to me the time is now if we are going to get our game back and start playing smart hockey again, and showing that fight and will we have been known for the past 4 seasons.

I remain hopeful, but it is getting close to do or die time. We'll see if they do it.

But one thing is a given. By losing to the Isles last week, and the Pens today, and only getting 1 of 4 points this weekend we are now squarely in the quagmire mess for 2/3 in the Met and a playoff spot overall. We had every opportunity to get out of that mess, and we blew them, so now we have to push.

2 or 3 doesn't matter to me, but I would really want to avoid a WC spot and the Caps or Bruins or TB in round 1.

Ultimately, I think they fail miserably in the post season, then have to clean house and break down the team. Boston cleaned house in the off-season, trade for 2 extra first round picks and they are in first place. Our dumbass GM should learn from this.

Hayes may turn out to be a decent player but they really need the extra 3m for cap purposes, not to mention gaining a pick/prospect out of it.

Looks very possible that this team has run its course.

Typical Al. Thinks like a fan. Not like a coach or GM. Those people always think they can fix players. Much like the Rangers did with E. Staal. Pouliot. Brassard. Stralman. Boyle. Avery. Zherdev.

We are fans and so are you. You just like to think you're a GM.

The Rangers know catching Washington is unlikely so they're playing for second, their opponents are playing more desperately. If they get the puck out of their own zone quickly and get shots on goal the Rangers can play with any team. Biggest concern going into the playoffs is the PK right now, 27th in the NHL - PP at 17th will hopefully improve with Staal. AV should be giving Hank more rest, playing him back to back is stupid. Hank will be playing every playoff game so it's ok for Raanta to play every now and then.

Tough 3 game west trip coming up but then they close out the year w 7 of 10 at MSG.

I'd be pretty happy w 3 points on this trip and then finish the season strong vs some tough teams but only 2 back to backs.

I still think they finish 2nd in Met and get the Islanders which unfortunately has 7 games written all over it. Will be an absolute war.

Time for this team to start putting it together and play complete games.

This team is making the playoffs despite our dumbass coach's many baffling personnel decisions all year because of the TALENT THATS HERE.. Once they get there if he continues doing things like sitting dylan every game in the playoffs instead of using him every game and sitting useless boyle in the stands where he belongs, putting dylan and Yandle back together to form a strong 2nd pair behind Mcd and klein, playing Yandle most or all of every power play, having staal take every meaningful defensive face-off for starters I don't see how we beat the islanders whose goal will not only be to win but physically to beat the living shit out of this team while our coach concentrates on what flavor his next wad of gum will be. I don't know if we'll beat the caps this year who look good and are due to eventually beat us in a series but we damn better sure make it to play them or our coach should be one of the many out the door this summer.
