It's interesting to watch the kid. If he shoots to quick and misses everyone starts screaming that he needs to play around the basket. If he passes off and get a bunch of assists they complain he isn't shooting. When he crashes the boards and gets rebound they complain he gets in Eds way. When he has a man on him he needs to look to pass. When he is wide open he needs to shoot. When he passes to an open shooter he needs to look to get a board. One thing i would like to see him do is be a little more willing to shoot over a guard that is racing to cover him on the 3 point line. They are not gonna block his shot. Relax and shoot the ball. But this comes with time. Gasol used to do the exact same thing.
Dude can't run the length of the court without getting lost. How is he going to find his way to another continent?
I hadn't heard much from Quick recently, nice to see him confirm he still doesn't know jack shit about basketball.
Be gentle with him - he is trying to prove he has a sense of humor. It's so cute when they pretend to be human!
Dear Sacramento, New Orleans, rest of the league, Meyers Leonard is a Potential Superstar. Get him while you can! Neil Olshey
Meyers is starting to play really well.....but he should've taken Olshey's offer..it's his scramble for a paycheck season
We don't have the same definition for "really well" then. he has played somewhat decent (which basically means he hit some shots) but still makes facepalm worthy plays. And he's still a one trick pony. He has made some good passes but also some off targets ones. If a player catches the ball at his feet/off balance because of an inaccurate pass but is still able to rise and knock it down, I credit the shooter, not the passer.
Yeah..we don't. To me even with his obligatory 2 ridiculous mistakes, he played great defense and got a double double off the bench in limited minutes. I call that really good basketball...his passing is underrated. I know he's the new Batum around here but I give credit where it's due and he's earned some with his play over the last stretch..
meyers has been playing better. but not really well. He's had some success in the position he now finds himself in, coming off the bench against non-starters with a little more freedom to float as Ed is in with him, where he can slink out to the edges, do some passing and hit some open shots. Unfortunately this is his nutshell and does not equate or gel to our starting rotation gameplan/strategy at all. If he can produce and slowly get better at being 7 foot tall, he's welcome too. But, you know he wants to start AND wants to get paid, and I still hope we come to the party with exactly ZERO of those solutions for him.
I watched last night's game. Meyers did not make more egregious mistakes than his teammates. He just didn't. Early in the first quarter, Plumlee, Vonleh, and others made plays that would have caused an S2 riot if Meyers had made them. Not a single comment calling them out by name was written. (Well, there was some Vonleh unhappiness later in the game, leading up to garbage time.) There were several very bad passes in that game by other players, worse than Meyers being slightly off target to the shooter. Every player makes mistakes. But every players mistakes aren't treated the same as Meyers'. The Meyers tunnel vision and piling on would be comical if it wasn't so sad.
