Dear ESPN, CBSSPORTSLINE, MLB.COM and the like, I realize you need to make money and ads are a big part of that in the internet world. That said stop with the goddamn videos having to play on every single story I click on and try to read. Fine, play an ad for some revenue and then please shut the hell up. How can I read the damn story when the first thing that happens is one of your talking heads is popping up on the top if the page screaming and yelling about what I'm get ready to read? You load up the pages with so many damn scripts that unless I'm on a mainframe instead of my laptop chances are your crap is going to eventually lock up my computer with script errors. If I wanted to watch you clowns giving your opinion I would turn on the television. Some people still like to read and the equivalent of sound effects and just plain noise when opening the newspaper doesn't really make that enjoyable. Thank You, somebody with common sense
I usually use Chrome. My main complaint really is all the noise on these sites. These people are obviously manic with the need for that much sensory overload. I don't know how many times I've clicked a story late at night and then have to scramble to turn down my laptop sound so I don't awaken everybody in the house.
I feel your pain, Mess. try this Chrome extension...works great for me. (it may take some tinkering to configure it like you want) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/flashcontrol/mfidmkgnfgnkihnjeklbekckimkipmoe and if you don't already have it, try adblock too; https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom
...fwiw, there's also an extension that automatically disables those annoying youtube ads; https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-for-youtube/cmedhionkhpnakcndndgjdbohmhepckk
