    That makes no sense whatsoever.

Still driven by media and advertising.

If the media wasn't all over it, then you wouldn't care. I mean, do you watch d2 tournies? d3? NAIA? No? Well, if those schools were the ones getting displayed, you would be interested in them. I don't go to any school in any conference, so I don't care. I only care about PSU, because I went there. I just dont let the media dictate what I watch.

Same with the NBA. If the Blazers weren't here, I'd stop watching the NBA. period.

It doesn't make sense because you haven't let the media not control it. It makes all the logical sense in the world. Read my prior post.

There isn't a major sport in America which isn't driven by Media and Advertising.

Disagree. Some teams play as teams, others are ruled by individuals - just like in the NBA. Some teams are all individual and others play as a team even though they may have a few individuals that are clearly better than the others.

The NCAA is the farm system for the NBA and the game is esemtially the same - it is just that the overall quality of player in the NCAA is lower than the NBA.

The NCAA does have the "Contract Year" thing going for it - players are shooting for that NBA payday. However, once there, not all stay at that same level. They become more CTC.

    Gramps...

Exactly. It is all mindless entertainment. And someone is making money off of you watching or caring. Sometimes the morphine of the masses can be kind of fun.

College sports shouldn't be a big money maker, IMO.

They wouldn't be if there wasn't a demand for it.

Schools are for education, not anciellery monetary gain outside the upkeep of sports and extra-curricular activities.

God damn, I sound old as fuck.

*smokes old style pipe and rocks in rocking chair* Damn kids and their playing of games...

Lol schools are also for alumni and regional fans. I mean if there wasn't a demand for it, how many kids would just go to the nearest school to them? It's great for marketing their school AND it's a fantastic platform for young men and women to showcase their skills to the nation.

Niang is very crafty, but he is the slowest player on the court always. Offensively he is very gifted, just don't think he is NBA caliber with his poor slow defense.
