We were told there'd be a competition for who gets to be the Yanx' 5th starter..So based on ST stats, which pitcher gets the nod? This guy?... ERA 5.50 WHIP 1.44 This guy?... ERA 5.84 WHIP 1.78 ...or least likely, this guy?... ERA 0.61 WHIP 0.48 ...the answer should be simple...but I doubt logic will actually influence the decision.
Survey says.............................................................................................................................................................................Mr. crooked hat.
Nova hasn't impressed and was bombed his last start. We shall see what he does today but he certainly didn't stand out this spring.
another kind of drought in Caly, a Yanx game broadcast drought ... I can't get behind either Nova or Mr. Crooked Hat, based on a lack of consistent Quality Starts over the years... I'm ready to stick a fork in both ... We'll never see another 2011 out of Nova, (followed by 28 HR's in 012) ... Mr. Crooked Hat, is done for IMO...
Naturally Nova pitches superbly today. Look at it this way they're going to need an extra starter anyway. I see no way given the history that this staff stays healthy all season.
naturally, he's got to make the roster, then show as noted, no way this staff stays healthy ... sad to say ...
Yeah that's why I don't go crazy with this fifth starter thing. You figure Tanaka is going to miss starts here and there even if he stay relatively healthy. Then there's hoping Pineda and Eovaldi make most of their starts. Knock on wood I hope they all stay healthy but until I see it past history says otherwise.
If I'm Nova I'm not worried because I'd know that its only a matter of time before one of the other starters will go down with an injury & the'll need me.
...so we give CC the #5 spot...have Nova as a backup in case of injuries...and put the guy who has proven this Spring to be a superior pitcher in the pen? ...I thought the best players were supposed to play. A #5 starter may not be a factor in the PS but he very well could be during his 30+ starts during the regular season.
We will see what happens in April. If people are getting bombed I'm sure changes will be made and others will get a chance. Like I had said it will be a miracle if parts of this staff don't have DL stints throughout the season.
...^^^ hell, just yesterday they had 2 pitchers injured in 30 minutes...you just never know. I'm really just as concerned about Mitchell's toe as I am about Miller's hand.
Crooked Head looked horrible today, 4 HR's seriously, in 5 IP, give me a fkng break. I know its only ST, but, BUT, ...!
...that's what I was afraid of; http://riveraveblues.com/2016/03/br...least-three-months-with-fractured-toe-135395/ ...damn it.
Just when Mitchell seemed to of turned his game around, with a .057 ERA in 15.2 IP, nice for a sample sized look at Him... PS:
