I AM NOT TALKING ABOUT THIS FORUM! I AM TALKING ABOUT EVERYWHERE! Of course nobody ON THIS FORUM gives a shit. But look at Twitter, look at Facebook, or don't whatever. And yeah, because I'm an actual human being with fucking empathy, I do think Nick Young is a shitty human being, and I consider his activities AS BAD as Russell's. But it sure as fuck seems like no other man does. And that's stupid.
It's the difference between Young pissing in his own swimming pool, and Russell pissing in the team jacuzzi.
I'm sorry you feel that way. Kobe is despised because he is a perennial all-star, and a Laker. Hie Denver activities matter to Kobe haters, because he is a perennial all-star, and a Laker. If Kendall Marshall had raped a girl in Denver, nobody would bring it up, because nobody cares about him.
Exactly. This forum focuses on bball and the Lakers. Got 0 problem with that. But general society? Man... everyone is just giving shit to D'Angelo.
But the reason this is a news story is because it impacts the reason that they are famous, ie, their basketball team. If it were you secretly recording @Natebishop3 talking about cheating on his woman, it wouldn't be on twitter. That doesn't mean that Young isn't a reprehensible human being, or that infidelity is somehow more acceptable than locker-room betrayal. It simply means that infidelity isn't as newsworthy.
Strongly disagree. Rape is on a whole different level than cheating. Cheating is between the couple involved. There are many different interpretations of how couples view their relationship. When I was in the military, there were many guys that could not wait to get out to see in order to hit a port and hook up with someone other than their wife. Saw many wives that could not wait for them to leave either. I found it was just best to stay out of it. There is no bro code for rape.
Nick Young cheated on Iggy?! Swaggy whatever-- (Shock Horror) To quote Edmund Blackadder "Or alternatively, the greatest work of fiction since vows of fidelity were include in the French marriage license."
Has nothing to do with the bro code. I'm not condoning rape at all in any form, in any situation, by any person. I'm saying that Kobe's indiscretions get brought up repeatedly because it's Kobe, not because of the nature thereof.
Why we are talking at all isn't relevant. Now that people are talking, the conversation is almost exclusively about how awful it was that Russell outed Swaggy P, with the assumption that boys will be boys, but snitches get stitches. Both are bullshit philosophies, regardless of how famous the subjects are.
Ruben Patterson was not nearly the player Kobe is. Is the first thing you think when you hear his name "nanny"?
Or put another way: the conversation is almost exclusively about how awful it was that Russell outed Swaggy P, with the assumption that Young's infidelity doesn't impact his job, but Russell's betrayal of a teammate is presumed to be a major contributor to the Lakers' worst loss in franchise history.
He's not getting off the hook; he has to deal with all the crap of that tape coming out and his fiance leaving. Nobodies talking about it because its a normal every day story. What DAngelo did doesn't ever happen and has basketball ramifications so its a much more compelling story.
Trying to muster outrage over infidelity between two entertainers is impossible. It only affects those involved. Now, what should be more concerning are the politicians whose decisions directly impact our lives and when their actions contradict their words and the laws they impose on us. I really hope that Madam Palfrey's attorney releases the names of clients who are currently running for POTUS. Sanctity of marriage my ass, Religious Right!
I didn't let him off the hook. I specifically said "two wrongs don't make a right". So, what he did is also wrong. I didn't elaborate, because his wrong is between him and his fiance and does not impact the Lakers on court performance to nearly the same extent (if at all) as Russell's wrong. To me, it's not about any "bro code", it's about team chemistry and how it impacts the Lakers current and future success. This is a basketball forum, and that's what I come here to discuss. BNM
We should be focused less on the morality of what Russell did and focused more on how we could acquire him. Russell wouldn't be asked to be a star here. We already have Lillard. I would try McCollum straight up for him, though.
Actually, the idea that faithfulness in marriage (esp. In modern society) is being mentioned here is a sham to me. What D'Angelo did was childish and wrong but fidelity among entertainers..... what world are we living on? Loose sex is a ball players given birthright the moment he reaches the bigs. And marrying a famous rapper is going to quench his young lust? Dave Justice had Halle Berry at home and he was f-cking everything in sight. Celebrities get married to each other because of their exposure level and public need for attention. They go through marriage certificates like gerbils through newspaper. Nick was just being Nick.
