Is Russell tradeable? What team would want him in their lockerroom? This could kill his career. Crazy.
As bad as this is I still can't see the Lakers giving him up on him yet. He's friggin' 19, we would be having to talk Marvin Barnes level of immaturity for him to be traded. Also, the other players would have to demand it.
The real question--if Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle go to management with an "It's him or us" ultimatum, which way do they go?
Well, technically, he's 20, but yeah, still very young and VERY immature. He will get older. The gamble is will he also get more mature? Most people do, but it's not guaranteed. That's the risk. He has talent and would be worth the gamble if the price is low. Plus, if he ever does get it and put it altogether, I DON'T want it to be on the Lakers. I hope they overreact and dump him for next to nothing, basically wasting the #2 pick in the draft. BNM
Look At Boogie,. Sure hasn't shown any growth. If anything he might actually be regressing in maturation.
How about they trade him for Rubio and the Twolves draft Simmons. Towns Simmons Wiggins LaVine Russell 2020 Dynasty?
It's really this simple: Does Young cheating on his fiancee impact the Los Angeles Lakers? No. Does Russell posting that video impact the Los Angeles Lakers? Yes. Would you stir up this kind of drama where you work? Would you get involved in the personal lives of a coworker? Would you potentially destroy your work culture because either you: A) Thought posting the video was funny or B) Held the moral opinion that his fiancee deserves to know And if you felt like she needed to know, why wouldn't you just show her the video instead of posting it online? That kind of public humility is typically only reserved for people you hate with every fiber of your being, so what does that say to your teammates?
Yeah I'm sure Iggy doesn't want to deal with this video about her private life in public. If Russell was some sort of morale do gooder he could've informed her. But what Russell did hurt her as well as Nick.
The thing is he is being shunned by his teammates. How does an unusually immature 20 year old deal with that? How does a player thrive and improve in that kind of environment. I don't see how the Lakers can keep him.
http://www.complex.com/sports/2013/07/the-50-craziest-sex-scandals-in-sports-history/ This was a fun article to peruse. Some athletes certainly should not be known for their outstanding moral fiber.
Well, and the thing that everyone is talking about right now is how the team is shunning Russell. That's a basketball related issue. They're shunning him because he wronged one of their teammates and broke their trust. Young wronged his fiancee, so while they might think he's a scumbag, he didn't do anything to wrong the team. I'm sure we have all worked with someone that we thought was a scumbag at one point or another, but we continued to work with them because it's our job and we need money. Russell did something to one of their coworkers, and he could have easily done it to any one of them as well. I'm sure we've all said or done something at some point that would be extremely embarrassing if it was recorded and made public. So if I'm a Laker, I'm thinking I can't trust this dude and I'm not going to spend any time around him outside of work, or at work if I can avoid it.
I seem to recall this Swaggy Douche douche being filmed with some hot young girl and as she's getting into the limo he mugs the camera and says something crude about what he's going to do to her, that I'm sure made her dad glow with pride. Fuck that Swaggy Douche douche. I doubt this affects his relationship with his girlfriend but I wish it would.
Well the Lakers probably won't keep any of those teammates except Clarkson, Randle next year anyways so I don't know how much it matters.
Yeah that or child abusers. Russell made a poor decision but its nothing compared to anything like that. Heck you could make an argument Derek Fisher is worse. Sleeping with your former teammates wife is kind of messed up.
