...Girardi has announced that CC has won the #5 starter role and will start April 9th vs the Tigers in Detroit.

...this could be a turning point in the Yanx quest for #28.

Damn you know I had to look that one back up, get it confused with a Dave Clark Five Track. Done by Cream, so I guess Clapton was in there. I've used it a sarcasm line for years.

Yankee management is gutless. With this
organization it will always be that the money
talks bullshit. As Yankee announcer Michael
Kay said.........'that (Yankee) clubhouse will be
pretty upset if Nova beat out CC for the # 5
starter. CC pulls his weight in that clubhouse....
    the players love him.'

When I heard this gobble-de-gook, this is
affirmation that this organization has no balls and
a shill getting a handsome salary would speak
    otherwise.

Really, what makes this year different from last year?

Would've preferred giving the 5th spot to Mitchell.
    In 6 ST games, (15.2 IP), 3 as a SP, he's posted a 0.57 ERA and 0.63 WHIP.

He'll turn 25 yrs old in April and it looks like he's here to stay unless he begins to stink up the place.
He has a good lively fastball and a sharp curve ball - good news indeed.
Yanks could very well be on schedule injecting some good homegrown SP with Severino, Mitchell and 2015 first round pick James Kaprielian who seems to be on the fast track to the majors.

Eovaldi is still young 25 yrs old also with a lively arm but it still remains to be seen if he can find himself and put it together.

As for CC being named the 5th starter, it looks like obvious politics (his high salary).
However, the decision has been made and all we can do is hope for the best unless we want to form a protest outside of Cashman's office.

In cases like this, I try to look for a reason/reasons why it may work out.
Remember, he's now the "FIFTH STARTER", not expected to pitch like an ace.

So, I brought this up a while back and was soundly booed, admonished and accused of cherry picking. lol, so be it.
In his last 9 starts last year Aug 6 - Oct 1 in important games with first place and a wild card at stake, CC had a 2.86 ERA and this includes one stinker where he pitched 2 IP and allowed 2 runs.....he pitched at least 6 innings in 6 of those games and 6.2 innings in three other games.

I think his final 9 starts (almost 1/3 of a season) is a fairly decent sample of work during pressure times.
Of course I'm trying to find a bright spot, maybe his "new" knee brace will be a key factor, who the heck knows(?)....as I've said.....gotta hope for the best instead of stamping our feet and crying out loud, lol.

I don't believe the Yanks will go as far this year with him as last year if he stinks up the place.
We may see Mitchell sooner than later, unless the fat old war horse continues where he left off in his final two months of 2015.

What I found funny was they (Yankees) made the announcement that CC was going to be the 5th starter like it was actually news.

Was probably news to CC. He was probably saying..."holy shit these guys are stupid....release me and pay me."

this game has come a long way from Mays: "I can't believe they pay me, to do what I love to do the best, play a baseball game".... to guaranteed fat ass contracts, when the guy has sucked for years....

I swear if I see Crapuano on the mound this year, I'm putting a bounty out for Trashman's fingers, so he can't sign a contract....
