Two reasons for this:1. This class was overhyped:This class could end up worse than the 2000 NBA draft, one rookie has over 10 ppg...Adam Morrison, and that's because the bobcats overplay him, I still think Rudy will be good though..2. 2007 draft hype:Arguably the deepest draft in NBA history is coming up, and all the hype is going to next year. My point is, is that this year's NBA draft will face into obscurity
cause they are all projects basicly except for Morrison and Roy, Roys been hurt and Morrison is unerrated cause hes lived up to his hype.oh, and it was predicted that a draft would be weak a yr or two after the no highschool rule...and really it has. Durant and Oden wouldve been in this draft most likely, and they wouldve been our stars.
I find it interesting how Oden gets good grades and is supposed to be smart and everything. But, he's expected to leave after freshman year... Sure he's amazing, but I'd think if he were as smart as I've heard then he'd stay and get a degree so he's prepared for post-NBA life.
NBA post life is full of dough and women(well, maybe not women), you usually dont see alotve former NBA players going to work at a coporation for $10 a hour.

actually oden is one of those players that I think could stay in college for another year or two. From what I hear he absolutely loves the college atmosphere and loves being on the team. I wouldnt be suprized to see him stay even though if the c's got the first pick and he stayed........you guys would never hear the end of it.
I actually would be suprised if Oden goes one and done. I wouldn't be entirely shocked to see him graduate first, more like to come out after soph or junior year though.

Besides all the Oden talk there are 3 rooks averaging 10ppg or more. Not just one like that noob posted.
This rookie class was never expected to be anything spectacular and when you look at the draft, there isn't anyone that really stands out in my eyes as a future superstar. Rudy Gay, Tyrus Thomas, and Andrea Bargnani have some potential, but I don't think they'll ever be superstar caliber players because they just don't have the total package. Rudy Gay is inconsistent and has the Villanueva mentality in which he doesn't seem like he wants to succeed, and he needs to improve his shooting stroke and his man to man defense. Tyrus Thomas is just raw and tries to do too much on the court, he needs to develop a shot and let the offense come to him instead of trying to create something out of nothing. Andrea Bargnani will be the best scorer out of this draft class but he doesn't have the defense that some of the best big men in this league have and his rebounding doesn't seem to be improving. He's still young but I think he'll never average more than 8 rebounds per game in his career and he just doesn't seem to have the right position. He's a terrible rebounder and to weak to play the center or power forward position, but he's too slow and he doesn't run the court well enough to play the small forward position. I think that factor will hurt him later in his career and even though he's young, I don't think he'll ever develop into a true power forward. Brandon Roy seems like the best overall player in the draft but he may be injury prone and he just doesn't stand out. He can score, he can pass, he can rebound, but he can't do anything that really stands out to make me believe that Roy will be a superstar in this league. Another name to mention is Randy Foye. Just like Roy, he doesn't have a true position and he's a shooting guard in a point guard's body. He's a great scorer but I think he'll have trouble guarding bigger shooting guards in the league and he'll never be able to become an efficient play-maker to run the point in this league. The reason that this draft class has a lack of rookie hype is because there's a couple talented rookies but when you look down the list they all seem to be missing something in their game. Just wait until next season, when Kevin Durant and Greg Oden enter the league this draft class won't even be remembered.

There are a few players out there making a little buzz, but there are also guys out there that got picked in the early rounds that haven't gotten much playing time; like Randy Foye. Roy, and Barginani have been playing very well for their teams and I believe from what I have seen from him that Ty Thomas will get some more minutes the more he plays.
Yeah real weak draft, plain and simple. Where is the ROY award end up? Anyone got any ideas? Adam Morrison....? 13.7 PPG, 3.2 RPG, 2.1 APG.....369 FG% & .339 3PT%

Rudy Gay is going to be inconsistant....hes a rookie..come on. And any Buck/Toronto fan can tell you Rudy Gay doesn't have a Charlie V. attitude. They are two totally different type of people and players, so your UCONN connection isnt good at all. Bargnani, Roy, Morrison and Gay have all shown they can be stars, or even superstars. Give this draft some time, yall are making assumptions way to early.
So far Morrison has been showing what he can do offensively.But I also think Tyrus Thomas would be another rookie who would do well.
