WM32 brought in a staggering $17.3-million at the gate last night in Arlington, crushing their previous record of $12.6-million from last year. They are also touting having had over 100,000 live spectators but they fudge their numbers so nothing is official. Still, $173/seat is amazing. In comparison the UFC's gate record is $12.1-million from UFC 129 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. Over 55,000 fans turned out for GSP vs. Shields and the average fan paid $220/seat. Recently the UFC did even better with UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz, pulling-in $8.1-million at the gate for just 15,000 fans in attendance at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas, or $540/seat. Goes to show that, given the right card and the right venue, the UFC is absolutely in a position to be as ubiquitous as the WWE. They might even give fans fights they want to see. The UFC have been considering putting on a stadium show at The AT&T since it opened but so far haven't had the right timing.
Not sure if it is the highest gate of all time but Mayweather/Pacquiao did something above $70-million per reports, which is an outrageous $5,000/seat at the MGM.
