Have to hope McDonagh is not seriously injured. Left game early with a hand injury after blocking a shot.

He really has bad luck with end of year freak injuries. Hopefully just a bruise or something.

TOTAL speculation on my part, but that's a broken hand. I mean if it is bruised only do you leave a game after the 1st period...I doubt it. I fear the worst on this one, and without him our chances of beating the Pens went from underdog to big underdog.

It's possible the pain of a bad enough bruise could be enough to keep you out but unfortunately i lean towards your opinion.

Ron said that it might be just a bruise since it only hit on his glove and not an open area. I think he knows what he is talking about.

McDonaugh is a hard luck story. The idiot is always getting hurt at the end of the season or he is injuring other players (see Hank and Zucc)

Klein is really getting closer to the list of players who should be moved in the offseason. Lets how he does in the playoffs.

I hope Ron is right on this one. I just have a bad feeling though. But it could be a bruise that swelled up and ice for a few days and he is good to go Thursday or Saturday...worst case game 1 next week. I hope so...because we cannot afford to lose him for the playoffs...especially against a high skill/skating team like the Pens.

The Pens seem to be doing okay without Malkin...that wouldn't even out. With that said...is what it is. You just have to go play. Injuries are part of the game. Need to overcome them.

They seem to be doing okay without him in the regular season. Lets see how they do without a player like Malkin in the playoffs.

BTW...duc with 20 goals this season for the yotes. Gorton better find a way to resign Yandle.

I would be shocked if its not a broken bone in his hand. 3-4 weeks and that would be crushing. I think given our defensive issues it would be the worst injury this team could get outside of Lundqvist.

Injuries are part of the game but the last 2 years have been tough.

I agree 100% Dis...I fear the same thing. Which means misses round 1...that would be 3 weeks. Would be a huge loss for us.

Alain Vigneault said after the game on MSG "at this time he will be reevaluated tomorrow. We are in that phase here with upper body/ lower body (smile) and we are calling it upper body this time."

On a call up for tomorrow, "we are in the process of discussing that and we will have an answer for you by tomorrow morning but a good chance that we might call someone up."

I'm sure they did the x-ray and know already.

I agree. And tomorrow they will make it public...good or bad. I bet they want the home doctor to take a quick look also just to confirm.

We'll find out tomorrow...but it would really suck if he misses round 1.

"Good chance that we might call someone up." That might give you a hint from AV...we'll see.

Skjei will replace him. Honestly, despite our defense being slow, this is one of the reasons I've thrown out the idea of seeing what McDonagh could bring back in a trade. He's always injured. I proposed earlier that the Oilers if they are sitting there with the 2nd or 3rd overall pick probably would give that pick up for McDonagh.

Step one...Skjei has been called up. Only a matter of time before we get the bad news I fear.

As Ranger fans we always think the worst......
and with good reason. Because it always happens
at the end of a very long season.
And to make matters worse, McDonagh is a + 26.
Our best +/- man. Girardi is +18, Klein +16.
Not one forward is even close to these top three.....

It is no coincidence that these D men have the
    most minutes on the ice.

I bet he is out at least 3-4 weeks. So that is 2 rounds of playoff hockey pretty much (if they make it that far).

I think best case he would be available for ECF assuming this team even makes it. Another costly injury. Last year this team prob beats TB and reaches Finals again if they had Zuc and healthy McD
