Not really surprised. Said last night I thought it was a given. Misses round 1 at least...then we'll see if we are still alive (that is 3 weeks). Very tough chore to beat the Pens without McDonagh, but it is what it is. Play the games and see what happens.
For sure. 6 weeks would mean into the ECF if we get that far. 3 weeks = through round 1 5 weeks = through round 2 7 weeks = through the ECF Bottom line...we won't see him round 1 (assuming the hand is broken). Then we go from there if we somehow get by the Pens without him.
Yet another reason why go for it trades are incredibly stupid 95% of the time. You have to factor in losing players to injuries which negates any moves you make to add.
Who knows, maybe Skjei has a coming out party and makes his name before next season. If they had to play Washington without him that would be tough.
Ryan McDonagh will miss the last three games of the regular season and is being listed as out indefinitely with an upper body injury. (NYR) Larry Brooks writes that McDonagh isn't expected to be out "long-term" but could "very well miss the first few games of the opening round" of the playoffs. (NY Post) Brooks says that it's believed that McDonagh is suffering from a broken bone in his right hand. (NY Post)
Skjei's getting an opportunity, hope he makes the best of it. Tough break for the Captain means others have to step it up. Only positive is he'll be able to keep skating.
Lol Like I said Mr. Hard Luck story McD is either getting hurt or hurting guys at the end of the season
McDonagh is "all but certain to be sidelined for at least the early games of the first round" with a "small break of the metacarpal bones" in his right hand. (NY Post)
