Yeah no... if that's the case what the fuck are company picnics for? What are company holiday parties for? Why do lots of people choose jobs that pay for daycare or have on-site daycare? I think that we're just going to have to agree to disagree because I think your stance is flat-out wrong.
You sound like a Once-ler. Never own a business. Your employees would hate to work for You. You'd have such a high attrition rate. You might as well be a slave driver.
Are you one of those people that complain about the smokers getting extra breaks? First and foremost I fucking hate smokers. Most of them don't give a shit about the people around them and 99% of them are fucking litterers. They just flick there butt wherever and don't give a shit that it's going to end up in our water system when they do that. As much as I hate smokers, I still understand why people smoke. For most smokers, smoking is a stress reliever. I don't give a shit if they take a break to go smoke. Come back in this muthafucka stress free so you don't shoot up the place.
No. But if they smell, I'll tell them they smell like shit and to go wash up. Or if they're missing and I need them I'll grab them.
I am. I smoke cigars should I get a 2 hour break to enjoy my stick? No. I wait to go home. My stress reliefs are beer, hunting, and grilling. Why do they get breaks to relieve stress and I dont? I should get a hunting break or hunting leave so i can save my vacation time for vacation. Or i might shoot up the place...
I understand the value in taking time off when you have an infant; get settled in, get the routine down, get the mother healed up, etc. An infant that old doesn't understand "daddy" yet. That'll take a month or so when they become more 'aware' of dad and his voice, so there really isn't this all magical bonding time that work interferes with for the man. Now with that said, I think people misunderstand the positions that some are arguing on here. It isn't to say that people shouldn't get the time off. It's to say that they shouldn't get PAID time off. There is a huge difference here and I can understand the rub for people that may be unable to have children, or choose not to have children. Personally I think that only the mother should get any sort of leave, after all she's the one in the hospital undergoing the ordeal. Unpaid of course, because if you are trying to have a family then you should be responsible enough to have banked enough money to save for the mother's leave. Having a child shouldn't be on the backs of someone else, it is your decision (a big one) and your life, take responsibility.
No, your story is cool... You obviously don't have any kids do you? If you don't believe that there's a bonding time between a father and their child then you just have no clue of what it means to be a parent.
I can understand the argument that businesses should not have to foot the bill for this. But if your argument is that being home with your child during a time when the mother should be healing is not necessary then you'd be flat out wrong.
It's the social media platform causing that. In Gresham all I hear about is how you're gonna get stabbed if you're outside. And I haven't really noticed much crime around me (other than some drug type stuff). People.freak out more on twitter and Facebook and everyone gets shared shitless. Someone said the other day gangs are taking over troutdale. Which is preposterous.
Do you even read shit on here fully without getting emotional? That is absolutely not my position. Go re-read my post dude.
