Not quite sure this is true. Hard to tell if Collins and Sam didn't do better than their abilities deserved when they came out. I would argue Collins made more. Sam thinks he didn't get a fair shot, but I'm not sure there is any evidence of that. No metrics I saw showed him as real NFL material. I would also argue a high profile athlete (very good at what they do) will probably be harmed more than an unknown. It's polarizing and polarizing doesn't help sponsors. Even Tebo suffered from that.

I probably would have moved this thread to OT. My criteria is that people want it moved and have a decent reason why. I posted the ZBo thread in the main forum because he's something like a former Blazers star player, definitely responsible in part for the Jail Blazers monicker, and the story is history repeating itself. If people felt it was OT, they'd have asked it be moved. IMO, staff should do for posters what they ask for that's reasonable and they can't do themselves.
