Doesnt matter if it's better to lose or not, you play it to win it. Anything else is a loser mentality. If we see the Pens, let's feast on that shit blue line, make Kessel look bad in his own zone and win a series.
Yeah they are very hot, and certainly no walk in the park, but they are not overly physical and the Rangers are probably the one team they don't want in the 1st. The playoffs are a new slate mentally. I would say that would go 7.
Shit blue line? Again I think we live in the past with the Pens. They are 6th in goals against this season. Letang, Daley, Maatta, Schultz, Dumoulin, and Cole is not a shit BL. They were a shit BL last season when we played them. They are not this season. The only thing I can think of is you guys are stuck on the Pens mindset of the past couple of seasons, and these posts kind of show it. This is not the same Pens team. Now that doesn't mean we cannot beat them, but this is a very good Pens team that has a solid D as well. Not like the recent Pens teams. And they are no dobnt better than the Panthers. If we got the Atlantic I think we would have gone to the ECF again...I really do. But hey...you play to win and it is a losers mentality to lose the last meaningless game I guess. So be it. Oh and we lost a day to rest as we start Wednesday now instead of Thursday, which could matter for Staal and G. Anyway...it is what it is now. I personally think we'll lose in 5 or 6 games, especially if Staal is out, but you drop the puck and play and hope for the best. And if we get by the Pens we'll play the Caps. Meanwhile the Isles get the Panthers and the Lightning. You tell me what the tougher road is...LOL.
Yes it is. Shit we could be looking and Lundqvist vs Murray in Game 1 and Chuck is already conceding defeat. Love it. LGR! By the way, I'll be pulling for the Isles to pass us this weekend because the Atlantic is obviously the easier road. But I also will not be having a meltdown about facing the big bad Penguins.
What did I just say...I think we will lose the series. That doesn't mean I am conceding anything. And I am not running from that...it is my opinion. AGAIN I am objective not just a blind homer that has to pick his team to win every series. I do not think we will beat the Pens for a 3rd straight season...I don't. That doesn't make me negative, that doesn't mean I am lumped in with the guys who punted on this season months ago, that doesn't mean I am conceding or saying we have no shot. Being a fan doesn't mean you always think your team will win every game and every series...I don't believe that is what makes you a fan. That makes you a homer. I am an objective fan...and no I do not think we will beat the Pens. That is not conceding anything...that is my opinion. Just like my opinion would have been we'll make it back to the ECF at least if we were in the Atlantic bracket. With all that said, as I said to end my last post, it is what it is. I hope I am wrong and we beat the Pens again. Either way you drop the puck and play Wednesday night. ANYTHING can happen in the NHL playoffs...so let's get it done. We are the underdog and I don't think we'll win the series, but clearly we can win the series, so go win it.
Yes...and it is always worse...the Bruins fans must be like WTF as their team laid an egg against awful Ottawa. That was bad. So yeah it could be much worse. We are in and that's all that I cared about this season, regular season didn't mean much to me...just get in. Now we go play playoff games....
Wow, i cant believe 95% of msg watchers think Florida is the easier matchup. Sounds like they are just going on name.
Yes...that's what it is 71...even though I love you man...you are lost on this one bro.... It is no discussion really. Not sure I can find any reasons I rather play the Pens, but so be it.
Some good stuff: Alain Vigneualt said that Eric Staal was held out as a precaution and that "he should be fine." (NYR) And I thought Skjei played well outside of the disallowed goal where he was beaten to the loose puck. Obviously we'll need him for at least the first couple of games against the Pens since McD will be out. I would guess the D will be Staal/Yandle/Skjei on LD AND Klein/Girardi/Boyle on RD. Staal will also need to be really good as I'm sure he'll draw the Crosby line. I would guess Yandle and Girardi will draw Kessel and Hags. I wonder if they put Skjei and Boyle together and stack up on the 1st two pairs.
I hoped for the CLEARLY easier road. We are where we are now. So be it. Hopefully we'll be ready and beat the Pens. Looking forward to Wednesday night. This is when the real season starts.
All season long, chuck kept telling us how it is all about the playoffs. Just get in and take it from there. Now he is trying to cut the corners every possible way in the playoffs...funny stuff.
Easier road, chuck? LOL...it is the stanley cup playoffs. Nothing ever easy in the playoffs. Just go out there and get the job done. Who cares who they play.
1000000000000% it is all about the playoffs, the regular season didn't mean sh*t for us...just get in. But AGAIN that doesn't mean I am not smart enough to see the Panthers/Lightning is a MUCH better road than the Pens/Caps. I mean come on now. Unless someone is clueless it is clear which path is easier. And last I checked why wouldn't you want the easier road. That is not ground breaking thinking...LOL. Neither is easy...but it is pretty obvious which is the easier (and smarter) road.
We did get a little help with Philly beating Pitt, so that means the Isles game tomorrow night means nothing for either team. So if the Isles can find a way to get a point tonight we still have a shot to play the Panthers. I think the chances are real slim, I actually think the Sabres beat them tonight, but at least if they do find a way tonight they will have a shot to get points tomorrow night in a meaningless game.
I am over it now. The emotion of the moment is gone. It is what it is. Looking forward to the only season that matters to us starting Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. I liked how Skjei played as we'll need him for McD the first couple of games at least. Happy that Staal and G will be ready. Happy that Hank gets almost a week off. Now go play and we'll hope for the best.
And for the record...I will be rooting for the Flyers over the Caps...although I think the Caps win that series in 5 or 6 as well.
Elliotte Friedman writes that the news he is hearing about E. Staal is "positive" and that he should be good for the playoffs.
The Flyers will give some fits to the Caps. I was kinda hoping they would finish 8th. Thats not an easy series for the Caps.
