Greg Dickerson just reported that in the game.....this is just awfulEdited by CelticBalla32: I edited the title of this thread because the diagnosis is official now: torn ACL and MCL, out 6 months.http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/celtics/?p=58<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Celtics’ worst fears regarding Tony Allen’s left knee were realized this morning, when an examination revealed that the talented swingman tore both his anterior cruciate ligament and his medial collateral ligament following a dunk Wednesday night.Celtics coach Doc Rivers, who suffered the same injury while playing for the Knicks, said surgery could be performed as early as this weekend at New England Baptist Hospital once swelling in the knee goes down. Rivers said Allen is expected to miss at least the next six months – a tough development for an athlete who underwent difficult surgery on his right knee two summers ago.“Yeah, that was a helluva birthday for him today,’’ Rivers said of Allen, who turned 25 today. “He wasn’t in great spirits.’’The news on Brian Scalabrine, who also went down during Wednesday’s loss to the Pacers, was more promising. His injury – the result of a knee-to-knee collision with teammate Gerald Green – was diagnosed as a bruised meniscus and sprained MCL in his right knee. Scalabrine, due for a reevaluation of the injury in another seven days, is expected to miss at least the next three games, starting tomorrow night against the division-leading Raptors in the Garden. The Celtics, with Delonte West (back) looking on, were reduced to nine players available for yesterday’s practice. Rivers, as a result, jumped in and played small forward as a result of the team’s sudden dearth of wing players.West has told Rivers he will be available against the Raptors, though Rivers – at this stage not anxious to rush anyone back from injury – said he will not play West without clearance from trainer Ed Lacerte.</div>

Wow, I just saw the replay, that looked pretty nasty, but damn, the injuries just don't end. Tony's been playing out of his mind lately, what a horrible time to come down with one.

After the play was over, Tony continued in his path to the basket, and went up for a dunk, missed the slam, and tourqued his knee pretty badly. He was on the ground in a lot of pain.

Since this is now seemingly the official Tony Allen thread, I'll add this thing that came across my mind during the game:During the game, Tony was driving to the hole like crazy, and I thought to myself, WOW, he drives and gets the contact a lot, its a surprise to me that he has yet to get banged up at all and has played completely the same. heh

I didn't delete the topic, I closed it. And I did that because we already had 2-3 topics talking about this injury. WelcometotheJungle even said that in the thread.

That is not abusing my power whatsoever, considering the other threads on this topic.. including THIS ONE, that was made OVER AN HOUR before yours.

You guys want to here something even worse about all this? It's Tony Allen's 25th birthday today, and his grandmother was in the stands last night hoping to surprise TA after the game. Then they were going to do something today for his birthday.

Doc was on WEEI, and he said something like "She wanted to surprise Tony for his birthday. Instead, she had to go to the hospital to see him in tears."

I feel so damn bad for TA.

I edited the opening post with all the information about Tony Allen. He was diagnosed with a torn ACL and MCL, and he will be out for 6 months.

    What a damn shame. :cry2:

This may be the worst I've ever felt about a player getting injured. He was playing so well, and coming into his own as a basketball player. Now he's going to have to start all over again. Still hoping for a speedier recovery than the six months, doubtful, but I want to see Tony back out on the court in green again sometime soon.

Like I said, I edited the opening post (that you made) of this thread, and the title. In the post I edited, I provided a source (link) and I quoted the information.
