Oregonlive has posted a map showing what the Portland area would look like with full melt-off of the planet's glaciers: http://www.oregonlive.com/living/in...keywee&kwp_0=128604&kwp_4=585108&kwp_1=305981 Just look at all of that waterfront real estate! Don't plan on investing anytime soon. They say it would take several centuries to occur.
That map looks about right. I attended a presentation a few years back about the glaciers melting. If I remember correctly, their projecting all the worlds glaciers between 30 North and 30 South would be gone by 2030. So get ready. The only thing that can prevent it is the next Ice Age. It will come but maybe not in time. Geez! That doesn't seem right! The next Ice age would be a good thing??? Only if you don't like the idea of Tabor Cove.
Ha! That map makes a mockery of all the farmland the Urban growth boundaries are protecting. Oyster farms now I guess. umm, some cinder block houses now would make great future reefs.
Looks like I might be OK and be living on Vancouver Island since I live in East Vancouver, not far from Prune Hill/Camas.
