Clips up 20 over the Grizz in the second. We'll clinch the 6th seed tonight. Dallas finishes before us so we'll know at tipoff if we need the win for 5th.
I hope we win regardless of the DAL/SAS outcome. I'd hate to limp into the playoffs coming of home losses to MIN and DEN. This is a young team and I think every little, tiny bit of doubt and every tiny, little bit of confidence effect their play 1000x more than a veteran team that's been there many, many times before. The top 4 seeds in the West, and even DAL and HOU all have way more playoff experience than us. Let's not limp into the playoffs getting bitch slapped by the cellar dwellers in our division. Take care of business and win a game you should win - no excuses. BNM
I think blowing the last two games affects the FANS' confidence more than the players'. They're professionals. They know not to get too low after a loss and key in on their playoff opponent. It's the fans who freak out. That said, I hope we win. Obviously.
Wow, I feel the exact opposite. I'm gonna have to work really hard to get up for a Hawks/Hornets playoff series or what have you. Who cares who wins? But in the WEST, you have potential for colossal upsets. I'm a major Dallas, Memphis, and Utah/Houston fan come playoffs time.
I don't get it either. We've never this for the last game of other great players. What about KG? This is probably his last year. He has as many MVP Awards as Kobe. I don't see him stealing minutes from the young ones in Minnesota. Where is he nowadays, actually? Also, Dumcan may quietly walk away this summer without this kind of fanfare.
What makes you believe that? The upset potential for the west is EXTREMELY LOW compared to the East. WEST Games separating 1-8: 32 Games Separating 3-8: 15 EAST Games Separating 1-8: 14 Games Seperating 3-8: 5
I like rooting for massive upsets. If the 6th seed beats the 3rd seed in the East, I do not consider it an upset. They all basically have the same record. But if the 6th seed beats the 3 seed in the West, it's a massive upset. Outside of the Blazers, I get the most joy out of the Nuggets upsetting the Sonics, Warriors the same vs Mavs, Champion Lakers getting swept by Mavs, etc. And records don't matter during playoffs. Who knows? Matt Barnes could go off on the Spurs in Game 1. Or Wes and Dirk in OKC. That's where the fun is for me.
Most players don't make big announcements and do a tour. All the bandwagon Laker fans have nothing to cheer for the last few years or the next few so this is basically it. The Lakers can parade Kobe around to sell tickets while his crappy play helps them stealth tank. I hope they lose their draft pick.
Yeah that would be fun; I just don't see much of a chance of it this year. Memphis is a wreck, Dallas can't handle the OKC athletes. Those series will be 2-0 right away and we won't care. I actually do want to see the Warriors Rockets series. Warriors probably sweep it, which will be awesome to see that team humiliated. They'll lose their draft pick. The Rockets actually have some talent on that roster and guys who can defend well for a series though. If for some reason the Rockets played a slow half court defensive game, which they've actually done briefly a few times this year but very effectively; well it'd be fun to see the Warriors embarrassment of having the best record of all time and lose to an 8th seed.
What the Rockets did to us during that 4th quarter in February is what they'll need to do for 4 quarters to win a single game against GSW. Ariza/Brewer/McDaniels smothering Curry/Klay (to the best of their ability), with Harden basically running the point and Terry hitting corner 3's off the drive/kick. Plus, Howard would have to play like it was 2007 again. I'd be shocked to see them get a game.
Yeah they were awesome that half. They had another half against I think OKC where they played similar. I think a big problem is they play this analytic fast pace jack up three's style but their really a good grind it out slow team. Harden can create in the half court. They have a number of solid individual defenders. All their defensive problems are in transition; and its been bad, real bad this year. But if they had Dave Joerger from Memphis coaching with that style I think they could've had a decent year. Dwight was a monster in the playoffs against us two years ago and last year he was a beast until he got hurt in the conference finals against Golden State. Maybe he can elevate his play with some rest and a slower pace. Could he return to form for a series? It's really a win win. Houston probably gets embarrassed which will be awesome. If somehow Houston wins the Warriors will be embarrassed which would be awesome too. Then we have a chance to back our way into a conference finals.
I mean, it is San Francisco, where people buy a shack for 2 million. Spending $1500 on basketball tickets is like dropping $10 on Blazer tickets.
