When the team was originally named in 1970, it was one word, Trailblazers. Somewhere along the line they made it two words. Now there's a story for Canzano to get off his ass and actually work at.......

Trailblazer, in the one word form.

    1. Someone who marks a trail by leaving blazes on trees.
That would be the Blazer logo, the swirls representing tree rings exposed by the blaze cut.

    2. Someone who helps to open up a new line of research, technology or art.
That would be the Blazers the first Professional sports team in Oregon.

That is not even close to what the Blazer logo represents.

It’s meaning is simple: a modern graphic interpretation of the game of basketball, five players from one side playing against five players from another.

Yes I have heard the modern invention. Have you heard the original story?

    Read it.

” Trail Blazers (or, more properly trailblazers) is defined by Webster as “One that blazes a trail to guide others: A pathfinder: A pioneer.” The actual name came from a practice by explorers making paths through forests and marking the paths by chopping white “blazes” in trees’ bark so others could follow. The term “trailblazing” is associated today with those on the cutting edge of discovery in such areas as space exploration, science, medicine and technology."

You can also take it from this witness, he was there.

That still doesn't saying anything about the Blazer logo.

They have change the story quite a bit also. It was one word and the Blaze mark represented that word.

Heh! "making paths through forests and marking the paths by chopping white “blazes” in trees"

I am telling you man, the blaze mark is exactly what the logo is. Good ole Harry (or is cousin) made up another cock and bull tale later.

I'm curious how you can have Dixie State...... in Utah?

When they're "whistlin' dixie" they ain't talkin about Utah.

Obviously, trailblazer refers to those smelly, crude mountain men who cut the first trails to the west.

On the other hand, "trail blazer" refers to the stylish evening wear worn at wagon train barbecues by the refined pioneers who traversed the continent to come to Oregon.

The Portland Trail Blazers are obviously a high-class organization and chose the name appropriately. ;)

I dunno. I feel as if the current, humble approach is more in keeping with my quiet and gentle spirit. Thoughts?
