Patterson takes over the role from former president and general manager Bob Whitsitt, who stepped down from the position of Blazers president and GM to focus on his responsibilities as president of the Seattle Seahawks NFL franchise, which Allen also owns. During the 40-day search effort for a new president, led by Blazers vice chair Bert Kolde, the Blazers sourced more than 1,600 people (including 100 direct referrals), reviewed 145 actual applications, including 33 from Oregon, and interviewed more than 30 final candidates. </div>
It seems to me like Patterson was fairly intelligent, but had absolutely no eye for nba talent. Monya and Khryapa are the future man.

Wasn't Nash the GM during most of Patterson's tenure? I think Patterson was active GM for a short time frame though.

he was only the GM for 1 season and that was only as a stand in as his hire (John Nash) had failed so spectacularly & had to be dismissed as the chicken had come to roost. My vote for worst GM goes to Nash who failed on all fronts. Horrible drafts & trades, and smug too. I think some still hold him in good standings because he would answer their emails. STOMP
