Agreed on Millsap being 31 is a little bit older than I'd prefer, but from a skillet standpoint I think he would be a perfect fit. Agreed that he would probably cost too much too.

I'd love gasol, I'm not very big on Whiteside though. I'd rather go for Horford over both

Yeah....on one hand he really is a lazy defender and doesn't solve any of our rim protection issues. The "ice" defensive coverage is perfect for him but it's not necessarily a good thing.

On the other hand, he immediately improves our interior scoring. Makes us much more dynamic to guard. He's one of the best passing big men in the league, so the drop off isn't that big from Monroe to Plumlee. And honestly, can he be THAT much worse protecting the rim than Mase? He's also a great outlet for when teams trap Lillard and McCollum.

His entire career he's played on teams that have no spacing. Those Pistons teams were awful 3PT shooting teams and he was paired with Drummond most of the time. This year that Milwaukee team made the fewest three point shots in the league. Part of me wonders if his positives would be amplified under Stotts's offense. I'm sure Stotts would also put him in a better position to score and doesn't have to force feed him post touches like he had to with LMA's ego.

Horford would be amazing, but he is also fairly old. Whiteside would be a bigger risk, but he's much younger and could be a part of our young core for a long time.

The harsh reality is without the refs help the Clippers would have lost

Here's a question; do you think if Curry doesn't tweak his ankle that the Clippers get so many calls? Seems like they're a backup team for the NBA in case Golden State underperforms due to a worn out Curry.

I think Curry will be fine. If he were to be ruled out, maybe. I just figured that the NBA would want at least ONE series to go 6 or 7 games. This has to be the most boring first round I have ever seen.

But the pick cant be had if we continue the experience into the playoffs. How is it a stretch to compare the two? You dont make sense. They are in direct correlation. Don't make the playoffs and get a pick to help the team.
Be a surprise success and make the playoffs and lose the pick but gain the experience in the playoffs.

Its pretty black and white no matter how many shades of gray your trying to paint.

It is a really sad comment on the NBA that this sort of consideration has to be taken seriously.

You guys really think there's a conspiracy to have the Clippers beat Portland?

We just got waxed by 20 and got thoroughly outplayed, outsmarted, and outhustled. We had 0 counters to their coverage, and didn't do shit on defense. Some of the calls (and no-calls) were indefensibly wrong, but that happens EVERY GAME, and against every team. They had very little to do with the final result of the game. Maybe we woulda lost by 15 instead of 20.

    BFD, right?

OK, the clipps got a little love from the refs on game one of their playoffs at home....

it wasn't what lost us the game.

    They simply out-performed us.

They rushed Dame and shutdown CJ - pushing the load onto our other players, and Aminu - Harkless - Plum - Crabbe were only average when it mattered.

we were overmatched at these 3rd option positions & the Clipps hit some huge shots. we tried to make some huge buckets, but it didnt really eventuate.

this is still a young team, and this will be an important phase in their growth, I just hope Stotts learned something as well.....

But if we don't make the play-offs we still lose the pick next season. The asset is *gone*, whether we make the play-offs this year or not. It was gone before the season started. It's a sunk cost.

I think it would work. Especially if we could land Barnes (likely would have to let go of Hendo and Leonard in FA).

    Dame / Roberts
    CJ / Crabbe
    Barnes / Harkless
    Davis / Aminu / Vonleh
    Monroe / Plumlee

    That's close to a contender

A few of you are missing the whole point. Yes we lost the game on our own, but what if it WAS a three point game. ;Those 5 points you just said... cost us the game then...

The biased referring isn't okay, just because one team is clearly losing regardless.

That's like saying, well a minor league team cant compete with a major league team, so we should let the minor league team have 4 strikes instead of three..

Its complete bullshit regardless of who is more talented or not..

    Where is Aminu?

I don't think you could start Davis and Monroe. Probably Aminu/Monroe and Davis bumps Vonleh to the garbage unit.

Ooops my mistake idk why I forgot Aminu. Well he and Davis can start at the 4 depending on the matchup (like when we play LAC and MEM)

I'm curious why you don't consider the affect of one-sided referring on the player's psyche.

Here's an example - It was bad enough trying to defend Griffin, but the refs gave him 12 FTA in that game. He was 9-12 from the line. Outside of Ed Davis or Jordan, he shot twice as many free throws as any other player.

Didn't he get 7 attempts in the first quarter? Harkless was not allowed to play defense, and poof, his effectiveness as a player is nullified.

Kinda like when Jordan "played great defense" on Lillard and nearly ripped his arm out of his socket?

Last night I saw a young, and very inexperienced, team come out with something to prove but just tried to play too hard, and do too much. I'm thinking they come out in game 2 with a little more poise, translating into making shots that they were missing last night. I expect a very different game 2, we have an amazing leader in Lillard who, I think, will gather the team and get their minds right.
