The Rose Garden crowds have looked "subdued" all season long, at least on TV. Definitely not the home court advantage we've had in years past.
People in LA don't care about the Clippers for the most part. This is s Lakers town even when they suck.
Dude at the store yesterday noticed my shirt, and asked me what I thought the team needed to do to win. We sat and talked about game two for a couple minutes. I'd definitely say that there is a buzz about the playoffs.
Has anyone else harbored an irrational fear that a lot of Cali transplant clipper fans bought tickets to game 3/4?
Lots of corporate tickets given away to employees who may not have that much vested interest in the team.
To be fair, I've seen plenty of Raider jerseys over the years, even when they sucked. It's pretty much Raider and Niner territory, with a few weirdo white guy Seahawk fans that have cropped up the last 3 or so years.
I caughtthe tail end of gm1 SA vs Memphis. 3-4 minutes left and the seats were empty by the floor. I was floored...
Why? There's a legit 1% chance memphis can even win. If there ever was a surefire 100% win in a series, it's SA. lol. I wouldn't waste my money on that either, I'd wait until the playoffs actually start.
A substantial portion of the non-diehards did not think this was a season worth cheering for. I bet it will be back in full effect next season.
Expectations. And the fact a significant portion of the team that we rooted for last year is now gone, replaced with a bunch of guys that the casual fan may not have even heard of. I think the playoff crowd should be pretty good though.
Diminished expectations. You also have the folks who are "player" fans rather than "team" fans. All the new faces tend to push them away.
If the Blazers lose tonight; there will be very little interest in game 3. I'd expect stub hub to get flooded with tickets. The only chance of excitement is to win either tonight; or two of the next 4 games. If there's a game 6 in Portland fans would be very excited. Blazer fans aren't the passionate never say die legends we like to remember from our youth. Timber fans are more dedicated. If the Blazers win, like the majority of NBA teams, there will be excitement.
Your Savage beats are Crystal clear Those two guys know better than anyone that it's a Lakers town...
My enthusiasm has been sorely dampened by the theft of my cell phone and tablet. Fucking tweekers, taking advantage of too-trusting drunks. I have my replacement phone, may not get another tablet. It's the photos I'm most upset about. Tons of them that weren't backed up, and I didn't realize until it was too late that backups haven't been happening automatically since I last upgraded. I'll be much more up for tonight's game, though! Let's go Blazers!
