I was thinking about Game 1 yesterday and I came to the realization that I believe that Myers would have and is the difference maker in us winning this series against the clippers. 1. He's another big body to plays decent enough defense to throw at the clips bigs. 2. He has 3 point range. With him outside the key on offense it draws their rim protectors out allowing our guards easier access to the rim. (just how many times were lillard and CJ blocked at the rim in game 1? a bazillion) Without him available to play I think what chances we had to really push the clippers in the series or win it are out the window. A shame, but that's how the NBA goes. You play who you have and play hard. That said, Lets go out and win one tonight! even the series.
While he might have been a difference maker in this series...might bee the missing link....he isn't here... He's out...and we can't feel sorry for ourselves... Or throw up our hands say oh well if we had Meyers this could be a series but now we are screwed...we have to keep our heads up...play our best ball...we can make this a series...we can win this series...we can rise together
I agree that having Meyers in this series would have made a big difference. But we don't. So he won't. Gotta play the cards we're dealt. Too bad bluffing is not an option. Even then, Glenn would call our bluff. Plumlee has got to make a freaking shot around the basket. He was brutal in the first game. Also Aminu. It seemed like most of his threes were NOT from the corner, where he has a decent chance of making one. Even the one's that were....Didn't he shoot an airball from the corner? Hideous. Glenn is going to continue to double our back court WAY up top with a guard and a big, continue to leave Aminu and Harkless open to miss threes, and continue to dare Plumlee to try to score from anywhere. No need to even foul him and let him go 50% from the line. Being out coached by Glenn Rivers is not how I want to end the season.
And sometimes they just have a marvelous capacity for delusion. If Leonard wasn't hurt he would no doubt be playing...and Blazer fans would be begging for Harkless or Davis instead!
Imagine if Meyers shot the same percentage from the 3 point line as A minute did.. People like Strenuus would be freaking out and calling for his head, and calling him all sorts of names. However with Aminu they say that he needs to keep shooting...
ok lets not lose our fuckin minds here. we've seen what he's done on the court and how lost and abused he often is, now he's the missing X factor? jeezus.... he may have given us a different look, but thinking that this candyfloss 7 foot wannabe SG would have been the difference maker is straight ridiculous and desperate. crabbe was avg and locked down aminu was avg and missed a ton of shots cj was locked down and minimalised dame was double-teamed into oblivion and minimalised harkless was locked down. plum couldnt hit a barn under the basket we have the players, we need a better game plan to combat how the clipps play us. and all this equates to, oh the guy thats disappointed the vast majority of the season that is now injured and can't play is the answer? grasping. at. straws. also, many more swish3s.
Aminu is a million times better at defense, just as good at rebounding even though he's 4 inches shorter, and actually didn't shoot much worse than Leonard from three on the year.
A million times better huh? And he almost shot as well because no one guards him. Leonard is more valuable from the 3 point line because he can drag a center out of the key
The vast majority of Leonard's shots were wide open. He can't even get himself to shoot if he's guarded. He drags the smaller big, usually a 6'8" guy who is not a rim protector, out of the key, because other teams know that Leonard has absolutely no ability to take advantage of his size.
Well that means you have a Center on your stretch 4 who still ends up getting drawn out of the key because of Meyers.
We're not being "outcoached" by Whiney. He's simply using "The Jordan Rules," same as Cleveland did in the finals last year. The third and 4th best players have to hit their shots when playing against this strategy - Aminu and Plums didn't.
From watching the first two games of this series, I believe we have to sign Meyers. We need a big who can space the floor out of the pick and roll/pop. Meyers would be wide open on the escape passes out of the trap. Additionally if he develops at all in the post he becomes a matchup nightmare for teams. As much as Meyers has annoyed me over the past several seasons, he needs to be re-signed, he needs to play 30+ minutes every night, and he needs to be putting up 13-15 shots a game ( we need his offense to outweigh his defensive lapses). We need him to take that many shots so his confidence grows and he is comfortable being one of the primary scorers. Unless we can bring in a big name free agent (unlikely) we have to let Meyers grow and we have to push him to become that third weapon offensively.
Woah woah. I got off the Meyers hatewagon months ago. And I never said that about Aminu. Why did you lump my name into both? Please, provide concrete proof that I said that within the last 3 months consistently on BOTH accounts. Because you won't. I stopped the Meyers hatewagon stuff months ago, and never tell Aminu to keep shooting. I more say WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING. You can let go of whatever grudge you have with me over that, because I've moved on from it a long time ago.
I don't have a grudge against you, I was just using you as an example of somebody that was overly harsh on Meyers, which you can't even deny. The group of people on the Meyers hatewagon is unreasonably big. I never said you weren't hard on Aminu, I was merely stating that everybody gave him slack all season. I have never been on the Aminu bandwagon. I was the only one who downplayed the Aminu signing and I gotta lot of crap for that. So I was comparing the two from the fan bases prospective for arguments sake, not anything personal with you.
Key word. I was one of the first off the wagon. And honestly, I think the meyers hatewagon has been thin for months.
You only stopped ragging on him after the injury because he's not playing anymore. To be honest, you were blue9/tunchi level with your outspokenness on Meyers.
