An incredible talent gone way too soon. Was still writing and creating enormous amounts of music. Even created several hit songs for various other artists. This is a very big loss.

When Doves cry was my favorite. A very talented man who I understood played 6-7 instruments. He ex girlfriend Vanity died just the other day. He was often over shadowed by Michael Jackson.

...Purple Rain may have been the best 2 o'clock in the morning slow dance song ever...played it many many times as a DJ.

...just my opinion but MJ wasn't nearly as talented as Prince...Prince was a true musical artist, he wrote, produced, and played multiple instruments.

There's a lot of AIDS rumors going around but that's all they are at this point. What's being said is that he was battling the flu for several weeks. He made an emergency landing some days go on the way back from a concert and was back on stage soon after being released. Doctors I've seen on the news said he could've developed pneumonia which is obviously deadly if left untreated. Could've also caused a heart attack or pulmonary embolism.

Prince was most definitely more talented without question but MJ was by far the better entertainer, I don't think ANYONE would argue with that.

I am very happy to report that none of my dollars ever found their way into Michael Jacksons product.

...MJ was simply a product of shrewd marketing and more importantly Quincy Jones.

Back in '72 some one asked me how I liked the Jackson Five "Rockin' Robin." I told the man to go listen to the original version by Bobby Day and he'd know why I did not like the cover. . I then told him to listen to the Bobby Day flip side "Over & Over, then listen to the Dave Clark Fives version, that's how one covers a song.

It's being reported that the emergency landing his plane had to make days before was not because of the flu but because of a drug overdose.

...that's kinda weird...aren't they supposed to keep ODs for awhile as a precautionary measure as well as reporting it to the police?

On TMZ the story is saying that since he couldn't get a private room his people demanded they release him and he was then flown home.

Elvis, Hendrix, Joplin, Jackson, Houston & maybe now Prince, such a tremendous waste of great talent.
