This! Doesn't diminish MJ in anyway Rick, it's just that Prince was such a multifaceted talent. I look at it this way, MJ came on at the club and chicks would dance like they were dancing with a friend. Prince came on and you were gonna get laid.
^^^ I read something somewhere that said, "Prince Rogers Nelson: 'Every song was either a prayer or foreplay'"
A friend asked me who the artist was in the video (Rock & Roll heaven) shown right after Stevie Ray Vaughn (toward the beginning) & I didn't know, Rob, Ron, any idea?
The guy right after SRV, looks like Duane Allman, (Notice his bro' Greg on Keyboards)......odd, tho' Duane played many different guitars, he usually played a Les Paul, more often than others......but yeah' I'd say that's Duane.....died on His HD, on Hwy 41.....odd in a way, the years I lived in Perry, Ga. (just north of 59), we lived right off of Hwy 41, but 200 feet from it. Rarely did a day go by I didn't think of Duane dying on this very Hwy. 6 mos latter, I'd lose a good buddy, who I hired, who flipped his convertible IROC Z-28, taking a turn at 120 mph on Hwy 41, late at night Drunker than a fkn skunk....within a stone's throw of our front yard......Big reason why I left Ga.
ahhh, c'mon that's not fair....(lol)....Bowie paved the way for these other 2 guys, and 100's of others.....without Bowie, we'd not of had Prince or the new White MJ....but like 59 said: MJ was Quincy's Frankenstein.... Tote= How's your cold (chest congestion) doing, any better. I had to put my Son in the Hospital yesterday, he's had chest congestion for 2 weeks also..... Today I had to take Kim, and myself, both into Urgent Care, for IV fluids and Zofran....wasn't able to keep water down for 2 days (either one of us), and Puke's like I've not had since I drank Tequila 30 years ago, ntm- a 102.1 Fever for Kim, 101.8 for moi....(any hindrance to health sux).....Don't let it get too bad brother...(what am I saying, You probably have your own Pharmacy, Dr. Tote-....!~~!
Thanks for the info Rob. Me I'm fighting a bout of bronchitis with a touch of pneumonia. Feel like garbage.
It's a conspiracy, Tote- caught this bug in Boston**, during one of his business trips, and infected the entire board.... ** more likely someone saw Tote wearing a Yanx cap in Boston and infected him with a dart, delivery system for this bug.... I hope you get better Rick, us Old(er) Timer's don't seem to fight off these nasty viruses, get better my friend....not a good time of year to be sick, but then when is a good time to be sick....? I know,... when you got a Nurse that looks like Elly Mae Clampett to take care you You....
...yup, that's Duane Allman...ran his cycle into a peach truck right after their album "Eat a Peach"...a short time later their bassist Berry Oakley drove his cycle into a watermelon truck and was also killed. ...here's a pic of Berry and Duane;
Wow, now that IS Ironic with Georgia's incredible Produce, (not meaning to make any fun of this very sad death(s), but a peach, then a Watermelon truck.....shitfire, that's crazy stuff.... Hey 59, it was raining when Duane was killed, right? What about Berry, I had forgotten all about Berry....sad very sad, two greats for sure....with tons of music they would of still been playing, for another decade to come....
...not sure if it was raining or not but I do remember that the Allman Bros were a big deal down here in the early 70's...and it was devastating when in happened...kinda like the day Skynyrd's plane crashed. ...Duane was the one who got Clapton into playing slide guitar...in fact Duane plays slide on "Layla" when he was with Derek and the Dominos.
My wife left me five years ago I'm a happy married man, Now I run free all over town, jumping all the women I ca. A Duane Allman Muscle Shoals Studio out take I once hears.
Yep, Duane was as good as it gets; without Duane w/Derek and The Dominoes, it may of otherwise been a bust...ie D&TD.... Seems very few inspired Clapton. Hendrix for one, Robert Johnson (from the 20s) Duane Allman, and J.J. Cale, and I think that's about it.....???
...I saw the Allman Brothers 2-3 times...saw 'em once in Macon and about half way through the concert they had a "guest" get on stage with them. At the time, I had never heard of him but he could play the hell out of the harmonica and sang like I had never heard a white boy sing before...as it turned out it was Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie. ...here's a great live tune from their album ...great lyrics...and needless to say, VERY suggestive lyrics the guitarist (Ricky Hirsch); "I say I wanna go out on picnic with you baby, Under the big bright yellow sun. Daddy, I'll take care of yo hot dog, If you'll take care of my bun."
After two weeks congestion has cleared, just an occasional dry cough. Finally got 8hr of uninterrupted sleep and feel good today. They say this has been a mild flu season, but this bug has been one of the toughest I've seen since early 90s. I know more people that have been hospitalized by this.
