Anyone seen this show yet? It could be a Vikings spin off really. I just watched the first episode and it's pretty damn good so far. THE LAST KINGDOM
I'm really loving The Last Kingdom so far. I've been waiting for a movie, or a show, that featured King Alfred the Great for awhile now. When I first started watching the show I didn't realize he'd be part of the story. King Alfred is perhaps the most important figure in English history. I hope this show gains a following and lasts for awhile. I wonder if the success of Vikings made it possible?
I just finished The Last Kingdom also, it was fantastic and I'm very excited for more. If you watch the historical accuracy video you can see where it fits in with Vikings as a story.
"Right now the sort of person we're looking for is an aggressive drunken lout with the intelligence of a four year old and the sexual sophistication of a donkey.
I have not watched this series, but I have read the books. They're written by Bernard Cornwell, who also wrote the Sharpe series. I have enjoyed Vikings, but lately it's moving a little too slowly for my liking. My enjoyment of Vikings is slightly lessened by already knowing what happened to these people.
I agree. I still love the show, but this season is slower than the previous seasons. I'll check out The Last Kingdom.
I just hope Ragnar does not die. I don't think the show will be good without him, because he ties everything together as the main protagonist. You root for him because you saw him overcome adversity and climb from nothing to be king. If he dies, the series focus would probably shift to his sons, but I'd have a hard time caring about them.
Not sure if they needed to add six episodes to this season. I'll take'm, but perhaps it was a bit too much.
The costumes, props & makeup on the Vikings show are “A movie" quality. But agree with you and others, the plot this season is getting a little weird.
Agree. But I think Bjorn, Floki, and Lagertha are solid enough to keep me interested in the show/keep watching. I wish Aslaug would die. I hate her!
If they choose to end his story the way it did historically, I think a plotline with the Great Heathen Army would be really interesting, also it would be interesting to see what Bjorn does in the Mediterranean.
I'm actually pretty excited to see more of Bjorn and the other sons. I was getting kind of bored with Ragnar, the time jump in the latest episode greatly renewed my interest.
