Most Athletes as well as fans have a deep rooted need to have something in a certain way to ensure proper performance or guarantee "Luck". Superstition just seems to be part of the deal. If you have ever played a sport you most certainly know what the feeling is to wear your "Lucky socks" or listen to a "Lucky song".
Mine seem to change year to year as this year it just seems that if i get online during a game it ensures a loss? Where in years past i just was unable to will a win without my red jersey on. I also seem to have to be standing as if i am sitting lazy during crunch time the team plays lazy also.

What will you be doing or wearing during the game to ensure that the stars align and the moon is in the proper house to get a win?

I responded with faux outrage on Monday when my daughter wasn't wearing one of her Blazer shirts over her pajamas, so she promptly went and put one on. I told her that whatever happened during the game would be on her--either she would help them or jinx them. First thing Tuesday morning she asked, "So, what did I do? For the Blazers?"

Obviously, she'll have to wear that same shirt tonight to ensure a resounding game 5 victory. It is a moral imperative.

I refuse to record games. Harkens back to my youth, when it seemed every game I would record, the team would lose. this reminds me of the old tape delayed horse shit that the team used to do.

I'd put this up with people talking about a game as if it's a sure fire win (like some people on the radio are talking about game 5 as if it's a win for the Blazers already. Imho, it's not a guaranteed win at all).

I also have to have a cup of coffee before every game.

For some reason, out of the dozens and dozens of Blazer hats, my Wells Fargo Opening Night 09-10 hat has become my Game Day hat.

It's constantly changing, based on whatever's been "working" until it doesn't work any longer.

Two X-mas's ago I got a new Blazers hat from my mom-in-law, and there was a game on TV that evening. I wore the new hat and we won. So I wore it every game until we lost.

Game 1 I wore Hat #1 and we lost.
Game 2 I wore Hat #2 and we lost.
Game 3 I went all out - Hat #3, Sabas t-shirt, Lillard shoes. So, that's what I'll be wearing until we lose...and probably for the rest of the POs regardless of any possible future losses.

In the 2000 WCF in the first few minutes of the 4th quarter in Game 7, I started talking with my buddies about the matchups with Indiana. Umm, won't ever do that again!

Allow me to relate the saga of "The Jacket"

    • Through 31 games, the Blazers were a disappointing 11-20. Then, my wife got me an awesome red Blazers parka for Christmas.
    • First game after receiving my jacket--Blazers shockingly destroy Lebron and the Cavs. Were they quitting on Blatt? Perhaps...
    • I wore it to the ZITS (zeros in the suite) game on 1/10--you know, the amazing 4th quarter comeback against OKC.
    • I wore it pretty much every day through January/February. 18-7 over those two months.
    • March was kind of warm. I didn't wear the jacket as much. 8-8 in March (I apologize to all of you).
    • I regret to admit that I didn't bring the jacket with me on my Disney World vacation last week, so I was 3000 miles away from it when the Blazers were dropping the first two games of the series. I take full responsibility.
    • I returned to Portland (and my jacket) on Saturday, in time to do my part to contribute to a narrow game 3 win. I wore the jacket on Monday, and we all know what happened.
Yes, I have the jacket with me today. All will be well.

I always wear my "lucky hat"; the Opening Night 2006-2007 red and black with a pinwheel up front beauty . . . I have forgotten it and turned around halfway to the Moda and retrieved it to do my part for victory . . .

I search ghettos and back-alleys until I find a vagrant, or someone wearing a Laker jersey, or in a perfect world, both. Then I sacrifice his blood to the Gods.

Been doing this on game days for over 20 years. It clearly doesn't work all the time but I still enjoy it.

Was anyone here participating in a pre-game drum circle at Dawson Park before G4? I was riding by on my way home and couldn't quite tell, but it looked like several people in Blazers gear. Also, I think there was just one person beating a drum - or maybe it was just an empty cooler?

Not my thing, but whatever it takes.

I don't have any big or long running superstitions but I usually participate in all of the forum games but I didn't for game 3 because I was extremely busy and since we won, I felt I shouldn't for game 4 either. That turned out well so I'll also not be participating in them tonight.

I usually scream at the refs and my girlfriend gets mad at me because I scare her screaming all of the sudden.

    Wait... That's not a superstition.

Well actually I have one... Kind of. Since I live in France the Blazers' games starts around 4 AM for me so I usually download them the day after to watch them.
But, if I accidentaly open facebook before watching them and the first post on my feed is not a Blazer post, that means we lost the game. However it didn't checked out for Game 4, I was scared we were going to lose all along !
