Since Jan 1:5-14 total for 3 ppg and 6 rebs. We need a way to get Dampier motivated again and what better way to send him a message that coasting isn't tolerated.

If Diop was playing better then yes but he's not. Dampier despite his poor numbers has come up with good defense and key blocks in January. Also, notice how the ball has not really come to him like it did earlier in the season. He's not getting the same type of looks, which explains his points being down. I think his rebounding will pick up, it seems to be the case with the last few games.
Damp's numbers have gone down, but Dirk's and Howard's have gone up. Both Dirk and Howard are averaging double-doubles for about the last 10-15 games. Thats why his numbers are down along with what Rok said. Consiquently his points are down because he isnt grabbing as many offensive boards due to Dirk and Howard picking them up. I'd wait a while longer, but I do think Avery is going to start using a smaller lineup of George, Howard, Dirk, Terry, and Harris more often.
I like Diop off the bench...Damp outplayed him ealier in the year, and earned his spot in the starting lineup.I agree with Rok and PJ about Damps #'s going down, but Howard's and Dirk going up and the two are related.I think they should wait for now...I mean the Mavs have only won 16 of their last 17, and have gone 30-4, I think with Damp as the starter the whole time.
Mavsfan, I think you might have spoke to soon. Dampier had 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 11 points on 4-6 shooting in the win over Indiana last night. lol :happy0144:
nopethey've been successful with Diop in the role hes in right nowif it isn't broken...dont fix itright?
I personally like them both alot, I think if they split the minutes for center pretty much in half it'll work well, no matter who starts.

It really doesn't matter who's starting. If Diop is starting he gets played in pretty much the same situations and the same amount of minutes he gets now...so does Damp.Combined, the the Mavs have one of the better defensive Center spots in the league...and the two are a very interchangable anyways.
