I'm listening to the half time show on ESPN and I'm hearing them talk about how Webber could add some nice depth off the bench for Detroit and blah blah blah. Webber made it clear in Philadelphia he will settle for no less than a starting job and a good role and he sure as hell isn't deserving of one. People need to realize if he gets any less all he'll do is bi*ch about it until he gets what he wants or else he'll just happen to get injured :thumbdn1:. I have no idea how 17 teams are interested in this guy. If you get him your in a lose/lose situation.
I still don't see him signing with the Pistons but with the Lakers. If you heard him talk on TNT yesterday all he did was praise the Lakers and how great it would be to play there. He barely even talked about Detroit..but I could be wrong.

It is not certian that he would start here. He could have for sure started for hte 76ers but the Lakers have a young promising center in Andrew Bynum who has averaged a double-double the last 6 games that he has started. Also, there is Kwame. The starting spot for C-Webb is not certain but I for one want him..no matter what you say. If he signs with us and then bitches like you said...then he won't play. period. Phil doesn't care who he is.
I never said it's certain. I said because he has a chnace here unlike in Detroit where it would be very unlikely. And unless Webber starts he won't be going to LA. He has made it clear he isn't interested in teams that won't start him.

If we don't have to spend too much on him I say go for it.
He WILL be starting here in Detroit. At Center over Nazr. I have no clue what to think. ESPN has him going to the lakers.Other places have him going to OrlandoDetroit and Yahoo are saying it's a done deal in Detroit.
If he went to the Lakers he would start alongside Brown. In Detroit I'm not sure where he would fit, they already have Dice.
Guys, Webber is coming to Detroit - it's as good as done, all he needs to do is get off waivers on tuesday. Also - if Webber comes to Detroit he would start over Nazr Mohammed as center. About Webber - Webber has been on losing teams and sucked for many years now - you notice when he is on a winning team, than he is pretty damn good. He is a really sensitve player - when you're winning you have a totally different mentality.
Webber made it clear he won't play for any team where he won't be able to start. That's why his agent flat out told Orlando that he isn't interested when they had said they want him coming off the bench. Detroit is the ideal situation for him, in my opinion. They can mask his defensive liabilities with their great team defense, and assuming he is willing to pass like he did in Sacramento instead of shoot 20+ shots a night like he did in Philly, he would be a great addition to that offense.
Okay in Philly he had the right to say he won't take anything less then starting WE SUCK.DET he would start at Center.LA starter I say.I think he should go to the Lakers. And to the Lakers fans, and others Andrew Bynum should be starting every game this guy is of the hook not sure why he would not start every game. Kwame SUCK no offense. LOL
I think your off on your basis on Webber. Because he had issues in Philly, he automatically develops a stigma that he's a cancer type player? I don't remember him causing many problems in Sac at all. Sixers tried to bring him in and expected more than what they got. Detroit or whoever picks him up are bringing him in for other reasons that will suit him far better. He won't be expected to take on such a large role like he was in Philly. A role playing role for Webber on a winning team, what's not to love of this kind of pickup? Like I said in the Mavs forum, he's a low risk/high reward signing.
The thing is that when we first brought him to Philadelphia all we really wanted from him was 15-20 points a night, and to get our younger guys involved with his passing abilities (set up Korver like he did Peja, and hit Iggy when he slashed through the lane, give and go with AI, etc.), but he himself wanted a bigger scoring role and really didn't want to be the distributor.
This is what nba dogmatist posted in the other thread. And I feel the same way. Coming off from injuries and being traded probably hurt his ego and in a struggling team, he probably wanted to show that he can still play. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (nba dogmatist @ Jan 13 2007, 05:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>if he really didn't care about winning, he wouldn't be going to a contender. if he wanted playing time, he would be going to a crappy team where he would get a bigger role. he wanted a bigger role in philly because they were already a bad team. he didn't want a small role on a bad team. I know he will be fine with having a sort of small role on a contender.</div>
