The New Orleans Saints selected Louisville defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. A 6-foot-1, 299-pound lineman who can play as a traditional tackle or a big end, Rankins had six sacks and 13 tackles for loss in his final year with Louisville. The selection came after days of speculation about whether the Saints might trade up, trade down or target one of the top quarterbacks in the draft to find an heir apparent for Drew Brees. Instead, the Saints' pick was much more conventional. The Saints used all of their allotted time before making a pick, perhaps searching for a potential trading partner. They ultimately chose not to make a trade to move up or down in the first round, although there may have been an opportunity at No. 8 or No 9. The Tennessee Titans moved from No. 15 to No. 8 in a swap with the Cleveland Browns. The Chicago Bears moved up to No. 9 in a deal that sent their No. 11 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. - See more at: http://www.nola.com/saints/index.ssf/2016/04/new_orleans_saints_draft_2.html
