Detroit Free Press - Chris Webber can't officially become a Piston until after the three-day weekend, but a team source said Friday afternoon a deal was nearly done to bring the Detroit native home. ESPN.com reported Friday night that Webber would not make a decision about his new team before today, but it still seems likely that by next week, the Pistons will start the former Michigan star alongside Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, Richard Hamilton and Chauncey Billups. Coach Flip Saunders said he couldn't comment on any specifics regarding Webber's decision, but said any team would hope he brings 20 points and 10 rebounds ? "what he did last year."http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives..._become_piston/Wow the best team in the East as it looks is gonna get stronger. Jalen Rose, Webber's old Michigan teammate is about to get a buyout from the Suns I think he will end up in Detroit as well. Look at the Pistons doing just fine without Ben Wallace in town anymore.
Wow, Webber will be a key component to the Piston's bench. He may not be his old self. He doesn't score in the point as much as he used to, but hey; the guy can still fill it up.
I'm sorry, but if Webber calls a timeout at the Palace, he is going to get heckled no matter what team he plays for. Finally we fix our weak bench, its been weak even when we were a championship caliber team
I am going to predict this right now and say that Detroit will be a worse team with Chris Webber in town and he won't produce in Detroit either. I have been watching Chris Webber for a few years now, I know his game inside and out. Chris Webber disrupts the offensive flow on teams. He doesn't play defense, he shoots the mid range jumper too often, he turns the ball over in his sleep. He's shooting a horrible percentage for a big man, under 40% from the field.I think a lot of you guys are falling victim to Chris Webber on paper. He's not going to be much help.
Well he blew off the Lakers so I guess it's true.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"We won't know anything until we speak to his agent [Aaron Goodwin], if he ever returns our calls," [Phil] Jackson said."He must be awfully busy, or he only has one cellphone. In this day and age, most agents have three phones."</div>

Finally someone else that realizes how bad Webber is. Plus you Detriot fans don't realize something. Chris Webber still thinks he's a great player and is deserving of a starting spot at the least. If you guys bring him off the bench he'll just bi*ch about it until you guys give him a better role or he'll "get injured". This guy will make you guys worse.
Webber definately won't be starting. He's going to do more for us in the lockerroom than he is on the court.

I dont watch the Pistons much but I read the posts in the Pistons board and they talk about Maxiell is playing so well. And Webber will take some minutes out of Maxiell's playing time.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>as long as he doesn't come to the knicks I'm cool.</div>I know thats right haha

I think he'll be excited and positive about the prospects of a title shot in his hometown. We have alot fo strong-minded vets so he definately won't kill our club. Everyone said the same thing when we brought Sheed in, but that worked out just fine.
One of the reasons he wants to go to Detroit is to win a championship. I don't think he will be difficult to handle, after all, now that he's not the same Webber as he was before, he probably will do his best to get a ring before he's done. And the Pistons sometimes struggle to find someone to help offensively, especially from the bench. Webber isn't as dominant as before but he can make those midrange shots and passes the ball well.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (L_C @ Jan 13 2007, 01:20 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I hope he doesn't start. I'd prefer him to be behind Nazr/Sheed/Antonio in our bigmen rotation.</div>Same here. The minutes for Jason Maxiel are winding down this season. There are rumors about Jalen Rose coming to Detroit too.I don't see the Pistons being worse. We won't play Webber 30-35 minutes a game. I honestly don't think that he will cause any problems or commotion, but I wouldn't be a surprise to see him argue and stuff. I think he will fit in though.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (DTP @ Jan 13 2007, 01:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Webber will most likely start.</div>Webber is definitely not going to start....They arent going to have Rasheed playing the center spot. Their interior defense would be absoultley terrible. Chris Webber is going to come off the bench and play about 22 minutes a night which is what he should be getting at this age. At this time in everybodys career, these type of players are just looking to get a championship. I dont know if he will be able to do it with Detroit, but he will for sure as hell have a shot.
You're right. Rasheed won't be playing center. Webber will over Nazr. He's already said this.Lineup becomesBillups/HunterHamilton/MurrayPrince/Delfino/DupreeWallace/Mcdyess/MaxiellWebber/Mohammad/DavisAlso, there is a very probable chance that we package one of our bigs and Flip for a swingman like Bonzi, Mo Pete, or sign Rose. Many Pistons insider sources have acknowledged this. If so, we will have one of the strongest benches in the league. I'd like the Rose option.Trade DD for a 2nd rounder or something, idk.Rose/Hunter (defensive stopper)FlipDelfinoMcdyess/MaxiellNazrI'm excited to see what will happen.

Dale Davis will most likely be moved, Dice does not want to start, Nazr is not impressing Flip at all right now (not really sure why), and Jmax is young and good but still not as good as Webber. Webber will be the Piston's starting Center and with guys like Tayshaun, Chauncey, Rip, and Sheed he'll become that forgotten guy out there on the offensive end most of the times and will put up some nice numbers. He'll do better than most expect, just watch.

Like I said, Nazr and Flip aren't seeing eye to eye right now, Dice wants to come off the bench and Jmax is not better than Webber at the moment. Webber so far this year has put up 18ppg and last year I believe averaged 20ppg so he can still score and as long as he can hold his own on th defensive end he's the obvious starter.
