I was fortunate to go to all three ball parks. Polo Grounds was cavernous; Ebbets Field was vintage band box.....both had classic originality; the first Yankee Stadium was awe inspiring with those statues on the playing field. Not much of a fan of the newer Bronx stadiums.....cold and dreary.
Looks like it was a beautiful stadium, It was demolished in 1964 after the Mets played there. Sorry I never got the chance to see it. It lists CF as 455 feet but it looks a lot further than that...... http://www.ballparksofbaseball.com/past/PoloGrounds.htm
Did you know the CF Fence was moved (change in distance) 20 times from 1911 to 1963..? http://www.baseball-almanac.com/stadium/st_polo.shtml
