He's fool's gold. I'd rather ride with our cheap players and spend that money on inside scoreing and rim protection.

He's pyrite, even worse than Barnes.

I bet the Knicks or Heat will drop serious coin on him.

I'd actually look at Deng if the market is getting tight and we have cap space. Don't wait until the trade deadline and they mythical unbalanced trade.

I knew we should have drafted Curry instead of Lillard but you guys wouldn't listen to me.

I also knew we should have drafted Thompson instead of CJ.

Or was it Thompson instead of Lillard and Curry instead of CJ?

Anyway, if we were different we would be better.

He isn't even pyrite. He's cubic zirconium. He looks legit from a distance, but up close......

Barnes has turned into a valuable role player.

Max money? Nope. He can't create his own shot and is a *maybe* a mediocre defender -- a negative DBPM, solid VORP though. Whoever lands him will overpay for what he does. Max money for him is an example of how weak the overall talent pool really is.

Barnes still shot 38% from deep, can post up, can finish, and his D looks much improved. But I agree..... I would hate to over pay for him.

Mike Rice said it best: "he's gonna fool some team into paying him. Guys like him are tempting but they are traps."

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Something like max money last off-season might have been defensible, considering the cap is going to skyrocket this year and next--in the new salary landscape, 2015 max deals will look much better. But a 2016 max for Barnes? No.

I'm extremely proud of our team for winning at what is the basketball version of "Moneyball." But this offseason I want to see the payroll drastically increase, players added and this team move towards becoming a contender. Moneyball keeps fans interested but it doesn't win championships. Just ask Billy Beane.
