"For his part, Lillard refuses to worry about talent acquisitions. When pressed about it, he conveys a sense that it's a bit tacky to discuss it in polite company, a betrayal of existing teammates, and almost beside the point. He undoubtedly perceives himself to be the organization's most indispensible representative, but as its guardian, not its sales rep. "We've started from here and just built and built and built," Lillard says of this season. "At this point, I'm confident we could bring in a guy and get him to buy into it. I'm willing to protect our culture. If we can get some guys in free agency or whatever, and they buy into this kind of stuff, then we continue this. But we don't change how we are -- and we won't because I won't allow that to happen."
This is exactly why bringing in Boogie or Dwight should not scare you. Few teams have this kind of leadership and stability to actually manage personalities and get them to buy in. Spurs -- Pop and Tim/Manu/TP GS -- Kerr and Draymond/Curry Dallas -- Cuban and Carlisle are huge and Dirk can vouch for it Miami -- The Riley Mafia with DWade and Spo Clips might have it, but CP is too maniacal and demanding. Instead of managing a guy, he'd berate the shit out of him if he didn't buy in. That's pretty much it. We can go in on a volatile guy.
I love this guy (no hetero). I mean, my whole life all I keep hearing is "why don't you do what other people do?"
Dame has carried out the FU tour with great dignity and poise...you can't find this kind of leadership ...greatest Blazer of all time is his to own and wear with pride
This is great. I love your take, as I am someone who has also done things differently my whole life and have heard those same questions. But the "no hetero" caveat? Brilliant. It highlights how inane it is is when people write the opposite.
Do people actually say "no homo" in a serious way though? I don't think I've ever heard it said as anything but a harmless joke.
I think some say it kind of ironically almost making fun of those who say it. But it is a real thing. Especially for 16 year olds on the Internet...hehe
What do you know about 16 year olds on the Internet... You better watch out or you're gonna be having an awkward sit down with Chris Hanson! Lol
