    I was thinking about this.

What is the most realistic toxic offer?

You're right. Nice catch. I got my number off of basketballinsiders.com. I just confirmed with Eric Pincus. He will update basketballinsiders.com.

According to Larry Coon's NBA Salary Cap FAQ,
Plumlee's CAP hold should be $5.8M. I've updated my previous post.

There also seems to be quite a bit of confusion regarding the difference between CAP hold and Qualifying Offer. They are different. Larry Coon's NBA Salary Cap FAQ does a good job laying out the different types of CAP holds.

Dame's contract goes up about by about $22M. The new cap is +$22M. LeBron's contract goes up if he's a FA and signs a bigger deal. Not likely by $22M tho.

Joe Freeman on the Rip City Report podcast with Casey figured Al Horford would be the top target.

OK. Here is what I think. Forget Durant; especially now that they have beaten the Spurs and what I saw is that Durant really depends on Westbrook; I don't think he would want to play without him.
Howard wants(and might get) more than he is worth and he is not a fit (as far as desire) with the Blazers.
Trades are tricky so I would go after two UFA's: Horford and Mahinmi. Both 29, veteran savy, but should have 3-4 good years left. Both solid, efficient players on both offense and defense. Both should fit with Blazer offense. Both seem to be high character types who want to get better. Both might be ready to try a different situation. Despite the good reviews on Mahinmi's defense, I was a little worried about if he was big enough for a center; but I see his wingspan is 7'7"; about 7" more than Plumlees.
To get them both I think it would be necessary to renounce Henderson, Kaman and Leonard, and then trade Ed Davis for a draft pick. If my calculations are right, that would give us over $40 million to work with.
    Would that do it?

It'd be sad to let Ed go. He said he wants to finish his career here.

Yeh, it would be. I know I would be sad. But I can't see any other way to do it. And he doesn't seem to have shown as much improvement over the year as some of the others.

Yes, I think he is. He's heavier and a bigger wingspan, for one thing. Did you see this stuff I posted earlier?

Here is some stuff on Ian Mahinmi :

Pick and Roll:When Indiana uses Mahinmi on the pick and roll, the teams scored 1.25 points per a possession — which ranks fourth in the league.http://8points9seconds.com/2016/01/12/ian-mahinmi-pick-and-roll/

And Frank Vogel on his defense: "He’s an exceptional defender. He can guard the post. He’s one of the best leverage post defenders in the game. He’s can hold guys off, obviously protect the rim in drops and in helps, but also with great speed to get back out to all these teams that are playing with five 3-point shooters out there. It’s a must to have a guy like Ian if you’re going to be a good defensive team."

Pacer's Defensive Rating when Mahinmi's On/Off: Substantial difference.

    I had this weird thought
With all this talk about Derozan supposedly wanting to go to LA, they have a new coach in Walton, and Barns is a FA, seems like that would be a target for them, he already knows the system Walton is likely to run...
So that young team, with the past high draft picks, plus this years, and Derozan with Barns...

Would the pairing of Whiteside at C and Okafor at PF be a feasible get over the off-season?.
And would it be a good mix 'n match defensively and offensively?

They certainly would match the age group of our core and would give some much needed beef in the front court.

Mahinmi would mesh well with our starting guards. He's definitely a brick wall setting a pick and is under control rolling to the hoop. He's not an elite rim protector like Whiteside or Dwight, but he doesn't give up easy buckets and will be far cheaper and more realistic. He and Ryan Anderson would be a great combo to add in FA.

Thank you for the research and some of his background, Ukrainefan.

Mahinmi seems like an under-the-radar Olshey free agent signing. Now, I am going to check the archives and watch some of his games during this season.

Now, that shows some dedication. Looking forward to seeing what you find.

I have mentioned Mahinmi before and nice to see him gettin some love here, what I really liked from the video is that he seems very efficient scoring inside

Wonder who's going to go after Hibbert. Doesn't really make sense for Olshey to target him anymore...But somebody will go after him and probably get him on a good contract. His time with the Lakers hurt his value, but I think he can perform well in the right situation.

Rockets wouldn't surprise me since they will be looking to replace Howard. However that could be quite a gamble for a GM who should already be in hot water.

There's got to b another way, I'm not losin' Ed Davis (ESPECIALLY because he's awesome & I don't think he's done improving i.e. the 15lbs he's going to add AND the fact that he loves this group/playing here)! Can u imagine us WITH Horford, Mahinmi, Mason, Vonleh, AND Davis (don't forget Alexander!:ygrin:)? =BEAST! W/ ^ c/pf guys, we can play ultra aggressive/gamble on blocks ect. more bc these guys can come in for 1 another w/o much slippage when guys get into foul trouble; we get these guys... & we can put to rest the trade talks about CJ. I'm good w/ renouncing Henderson, Kaman and Leonard, np.

@ UKRAINEFAN you're right, Ed hasn't shown as much improvement as some of the others but to me, that doesn't matter that much for what we need from him IF we had all the ^ guys. Also, Davis is ~26 & Horford & Mahinmi r both 29; so we need younger guys to replace these 2 when they start to get too old, our current guys (Ed +) will improve & come into their own nicely @ that time & if they don't, we can talk trading them @ that time:wink:
