I don't see why this finding is suspect. It's scientists who've resisted the concept of people being here earlier than they've been saying all along. A skull dating back 700,000 which is either Homo sapien or part Homo sapien is in direct conflict with the Out of Africa theory of human evolution.

No proto-human species (homo erectus etc.) have ever been documented in NA, so unlike Europe there was nothing here for humans to arise from.
