6 months shy of his 41st birthday & on pace for.......

    44 HRs, 144 RBI, 70 doubles & a 320 batting average.

When Barry Bonds was hitting all those HRs at 37-38 years old he was being hung by critics who were saying "At his age (37-38) your numbers should be declining NOT! getting better". Well apparently Ortiz didn't get the memo, instead he'll probably make the HOF. Who the hell does he have in his pocket?

MLB Network has followed ESPN onto the Ortiz Bandwagon. In my view Ortiz has just not got caught. Pretty damn pathetic hearing his name mentioned with Teddy Ball Game, Yaz, Dewey Evans, Carlton Fisk, and other Red Sox greats of the past. I hated the Red Sox but did respect the aforementioned on an individual basis who played fair and hard..

    ...^^^

Shrek has made a travesty out of the game, and I'd not be surprised if he's still sticking a needle in his ass, with a new masking agent......

I'd love to see his career end on a Suspension for PED use, again...

Of course he's been using as he has been since he left the twins. And he was caught on that list back in 2001 I believe that somehow no baseball writer ever chose to follow up on that a-roid got crucified for

Hell I wonder if he's even still being tested. Honestly, I doubt it.

When Bonds put up great numbers in his late 30s he was a cheater, but when Ortiz does at an even older age he's a future HOF players who should reconsider retiring.

As we all grew up, as kids looking up to our role models, idols, this game today is nothing like what we saw, heard, et al.

Ball Player's went out of their way to be the role models, today's players have no clue about...with the exception of very few players today....

shrek is one of those players who've shown kids its alright to lie, cheat, rant rave when one doesn't get a call their way, put on a temper tantrum when a close ball catches the corner of the plate for strike 3, and watch the fireworks,

    Player's today, have nothing like:
Mays who would simply not even make a facial gesture, and head back to the dugout, but then again, you'd rarely see Mays, Mantle, Aaron, McCovey, Yaz, Maris, et al, look at a full count pitch, so close you've got to protect the plate with any close pitch, something Shrek has never learned....its easier to fight with Umps...easier to cheat...

when one looks at Shrek's Twinkies days, stats and all, its so fkng obvious the guy has his own PED Lab....(now selling masking agents)...

What he's accomplishing so far this year & the numbers he's on pace for are just not natural. 44/144/320 with an ops of 1.101 & a slg% of .695 both career highs.

I remember telling a younger fan that I got to see, Mantle, Mays Aaron, Ted Williams and his response was that must have been really cool. In general todays players may be bigger, stronger, and faster but are lacking in sportsmanship and class. We knew those players weren't choir boys but for the most part they conducted themselves in a manner that would not embarrass their teams.

There are still things out there that can't be tested for, but he'd have to have a really sophisticated process for acquiring and evading.

Perhaps the best defense against PEDs would be detailed expense accounting in conjunction to testing.
