I'm not really sure it's THAT homerific to be honest. We're talking about trading the 2nd best player on a playoff team, who happens to A) have great chemistry on and off the court with our franchise player B) is coming off a breakout year C) and is just entering his prime. Trading that for an unknown, during Damian's window, isn't all that appealing to me.

Consider the fact that CJ averaged more point per game (20.8 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 4.3 apg) than the last SEVEN #2 picks did last year. Actually, none of the last SEVEN #2 draft picks have ever averaged over 20 ppg in any season yet and four of them are older. One isn't even in the league anymore.

IMO, the best season of any of those 7 picks was Evan Turner in 2013-2014 when he averaged 17.4 ppg, 6 rpg and 3.7 apg. Beasley averaged 19.2 ppg early in his career but that was a long time ago, and even then I don't think he's the player CJ is now.

I think Simmons will be a little like Demar Derozan. He will probably get to the line a lot though.

    I voted No.

This draft feels quite weak at the top. Not quite as weak as 2013 felt (Bennett, Oladipo, Len), but nowhere near 2012 (Davis) or 2015 (Towns).

Also, I really want to win with Dame and CJ as the core of this team. We're a damn good basketball team that's only going to get better and we have cap space this summer to add great pieces to this roster. Dame is turning 26 this summer and is getting extremely close to entering his prime. I'd hate to move CJ for a prospect and lose another year off of Lillard. While I typically LOVE the draft and always want a first round pick, this year feels different. We already have the second-youngest roster in the NBA. We have prospects currently on this roster who aren't even close to being considered finished products (Vonleh, Montero, Alexander, Harkless, Connaughton, Leonard, Crabbe). I'd be fine moving into the first if the buy-in was minimal. But moving CJ for a No. 2 pick? I can't do that.

Chemistry and continuity are two things this franchise should continue to strive for as those two components separate the good from the great teams. 2016 was the first year that Lillard and McCollum played full-time alongside one another. What we saw this year was not the finished product. Lastly, the NBA is going smaller. No longer are small backcourts considered a liability. Guards who can dribble, distribute, and create their own offense are at a premium in today's NBA.

While Ingram or Simmons may have a higher ceiling, I'm rolling with CJ, who I believe still has a lot of room to grow.

What an awful IDEA... Quit with these trade CJ threads... And to sign the insanely overrated Derozen on top of that? Hell no.

    I voted yes.

I like CJ, but we need another superstar player and I think Simmons or Ingram could be that guy. I watched Ingram in his game against UO and he was extremely impressive.

    Baby Durant.

No and no. That lineup makes us worse than we are, older than we are and more expensive than we are. DeRozen is a chucker that wants a max deal starting at $25 million. I hope he gets it - from somebody else.

Neither Noel or Plumlee can score more than 3 feet from the basket. Forget the midrange jumper, Noel is a career .295 shooter from 3 - 10 feet. He can't make anything longer than a dunk or layup.

Yes, he makes us better defensively, but a line up of Noel/Plumlee would KILL our offense. BOTH of the other teams bigs could just camp in the paint making it impossible for Dame and DeRozen to penetrate. DeRozen is a below average outside shooter who relies on slashing and penetration for the bulk of his scoring. Combining him with a Noel/Plumlee front court, would neutralize his one actual skill. He'd be driving into a wall of big men on every possession.

You thought our points in the paint were low last year? With a Noel/Plumlee starting front court, I bet we'd set an all-time NBA record for fewest points in the paint. Neither are dominant low post scorers and both together kill everybody else's chances at getting to the rim.

Baby Durant? My lord, you have to be kidding me. This guy is good but he wouldn't even be top 2 many other years of the draft.

And impressive in one game that you watched? Guess what game I saw CJ play?

    30 points!

At least you didn't say Simmons though. He has even less of a chance of being a star.

Yes if they are drafted to be a difference maker. An average jump shot is not good enough if they are needed to make us contenders. There are plenty of average shooters in the league. Until Simmons, or D'Angelo Russel, or even Oldadipo has a consistent jumpshot, they might still be good, but they will never be someone worth tanking for.

Sixers Coach played with Simmons' dad and they are rumored to want him more than Ingram by the way.

But with that said even if Simmons' was there at #2 for the trade he has a lot of downsides. Definitely not a slam dunk to be a star (although no one really is).

I'd trade CJ for Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Paul George or Lebron James in a heartbeat...not that that's going to happen

Well, mine was first, and based on the fact that the RipCityMornings guys mentioned the notion in passing.

I have no comment on the other trade CJ thread.

I don't see Olshey moving CJ at all but if you did, he'd bring you an allstar caliber player in return...not a rookie project

And I wouldn't trade C.J. straight up for DeRozen. Not in a million years.
