There is no freedom of speech in school.

    There isn't.

A student who is a Scientologist can not stand in the lunch room and preach about Scientology. They can leave school grounds and do it on a public sidewalk.

Someone who is anti-abortion can not lead a demonstration on campus. They can do it across the street from the school.

Those kids have a right to put up Build A Wall signs, just not on school grounds.

Tinker v. Des Moines is another example.

Edit: I will say though that the law surrounding it is tricky so as usual can be bent to the will of the wielder.

It isn't in any way hate speech or racist either, as has been mentioned in the article.

I'm pretty sure the school can limit any activity that is disruptive, and they can decide what is disruptive.

If you don't like it, sue.

Its not really the school's reaction that bugs me, but the media's classifying this as racist / hate speech etc. They also allowed the walk out to take place which is enabling.

    No.
But stomping / climbing on cars, yes.

The flag thing is ironic, they pride their own country yet refuse to live there. That's all I meant by that.

They should rep the place that gives them their rights, ya? But sure rep the Mexican flag, I dont care. I think its funny though.

Think those kids need to go back to school if they equate "build a wall" to racism. Apparently they aren't learning very much.

These are the future MeCha members in college. They're all politically active about latinos taking america over but most of the people I knew who were part of that eventually sold out and became crackaz
