To make that happen, we'd probably have to not re-sign Meyers Leonard to make some cap room. I'm not sure I'd be on board with that... :)

But, but, but.... None of those old guys fit Dame's window. Meyers is only 24 and we all know it takes big men longer to adjust to the NBA. LET IT BAKE!!!

Are you saying you'd ask Michael Jordan to come off the bench?

And now with a new GM I think they'll blow it up again...there's gonna be a blue light special on aisle 5 in Philly

    Hello darkness, my old friend
Yeah, I've been dreaming about Atlanta's front court on Portland...both Horford and Milsap are perfect for Portland. My dream offseason involves convincing Horford to sign and figuring out a trade with Atlanta for Milsap that doesn't involve Lillard or McCollum. That's probably extremely unrealistic, but if some combination of Plumlee, Vonleh and draft picks could do it, Portland would instantly be a contender for the #2 seed in the West. The overall upgrade to both offense and defense would be huge.

My "realistic" ideal offseason would be to sign Horford as well as Marvin Williams. Williams, I feel, could operate as a kind of poor man's Milsap. He's a similar body type (slightly taller, slightly lighter), he can man power forward, he plays good defense and he can shoot the ball out to three-point range. He can't rebound as well as Milsap, but if you can't get Milsap, I think Williams brings the defense and spacing benefits to really strengthen the Portland starting lineup in conjunction with Horford.

Lillard / McCollum / Aminu / Williams / Horford is a lineup that I think can do a lot of damage in the West playoffs.

Not sure about Williams but I'm definitely on board with the Horford/Milsap idea.

I love the fact that we don't sacrifice anything on offense, by not giving up our 2nd-best-in-the-league backcourt, but in fact get even better on offense and get WAY better on defense. Yeah, I've been saying for weeks, I want Millsap AND Horford. I've wanted Millsap here ever since before the 2006 draft, and he keeps getting better. He took his defense to a whole new level this year.

My only concern would be our bench, depending on what we have to give up. Keeping Crabbe would be huge, he makes a good 3-guard rotation with Dame and C.J, but not sure that would be possible. I'm hoping we can, at some point very soon, be the new San Antonio or Golden State where veteran role players go to try to earn (actually contribute and not just ride someone else's coattails) a ring.

If Olshey could pull that off, there's no way in hell he doesn't win Executive of the Year next season. ATL won 60 games with that front court and finished ahead of CLE last year. We'd replace DeMarre Carroll with Aminu as our 3 an D guy (and I actually think Aminu is better than Carroll at this point) AND add the 2nd best backcourt in the league.

Man, I'd love to see what Terry Stotts could do with that lineup. Horford and Millsap would make things so much easier for Dame and C.J, - on both ends of the court. It would give us two more proven scorers, that can score in the paint, or all the way out to 3-point range, that are perfect for both the pick and roll and the pick and pop (choose your poison), and a HUGE upgrade on our defense, both in the paint and on the perimeter. Horford and Millsap both defend the pick and roll incredibly well, both are decent shot blockers and both get lots of steals by being active in the passing lanes. They are just two guys that play really, REALLY smart defense.

Of course, Mike Budenholzer is a well known Popovich disciple, so it should come as no surprise that ATL's big men have become such fundamentally sound defenders under his tutelage. If ATL is dumb enough to ever fire that guy, I hope Paul Allen is IMMEDIATELY on the phone offering to make him the highest paid assistant coach in the history of the word (LeBron doesn't count, we all know he's the head coach) to come be our defensive specialist Associate Head Coach.

Well, yeah, Williams is no one's first choice, but in terms of a good player who fits perfectly both into what Portland wants to do and the direction the league is going, he makes a nice addition alongside Horford: a stretch power forward who can actually defend. And he should be affordable.

    It's tempting to think of a Ben Simmons fulfilling his potential/ceiling as a Blazer - were we to trade;
but I'm going to have to say no.
Who knows how either Simmons or Ingram will pan out in the long run. Is Ingram THAT talented, and are there motivational issues with Simmons?

We already have a young guy who is playing at a borderline All-star level (in his first full season of minutes) and has room to improve.
On top of that CJ is a class act, and fits our culture.

Bottom line: NO, because we already have a young player with a high floor - and potentially a very high ceiling who fits well with our team.

Listening to the latest installment of @Dan Marang's Potential Upside podcast (episode 14), and he not only thinks trading CJ is reasonable, but is a necessity. Starts around the 28 minute mark. Saying that if we had tanked properly, we'd be able to trade CJ and that pick for just about anyone in the league.

Of course, the basis for this opinion is saying that this team as currently constructed is a 48-50 win team max, a claim with which I would vehemently disagree.

Hmmm.. Somehow Im thinking if we had "Tanked Properly", CJ would not be anywhere where he is now and thus not be near as valuable, and thus thus, not netting "anyone" in the league.

Shit if that were the case, we should be able to trade him now for anyone in the league right? I mean his value now has to be higher than last off season right?

Mad respect for Dan, but think he is way off on this. and I agree with you on the ceiling of the team as constructed.

He's now suggesting a trade of CJ and Plumlee for Monroe and their #10 pick. Seems silly to me.

And now suggesting trying to see if Minny would trade Wiggins for CJ (+?), which is crazy to think that the Wolves would accept.
