I have supported Girardi since game 1 of the 2008 season. Granted there are things he does that blow ones mind. I once heard Davey Johnson comment that in '86 everyone in New York was a better manger than he (Johnson() Given the state of the 2016 Yankees thanks to the Steincash Team you could bring chief ass kick Billy Martin back to honcho this squad and see little result. So my question is if Girardi were let go who is your choice to manage the Steincash Yankees .???????? The only capable person I can think of is already employed, not likely to leave his team, and would still inherit the same bunch of whiney weenies riding the sick books and failing at what they're paid to do. Last night was classic 16, failing offense, a well pitched game by the big man, given his rank and service time excelled. So Girardi gets one of his priomos up there who promptly flubs the dub after 2 outs and shits the bed. Yep, Girardi does do some stuff that blows my mind but for putting up with the Steincash Yankees he gets an "A" for the day from me. So who's your choice fans to miraculously manage this no can do crew to the '16 AL East Championship.
...^^^ sadly, I don't think a new coach will help until roster changes have also been made. Girardi is a good skipper deserves better than this current roster. Yeah, he gets second guessed, but all managers do. They need to get what they can for Chapman and Miller...as well as trying to trade Gardner and/or Beltran. ...for that matter, there's really no one who should be exempt from a trade if they net a very good return. Is Cashman capable of such a coup...no, I don't think so. ...as far as replacements, I'd prefer to keep it in "the family"...ONeill might work...maybe Jeter too...but I think neither would take on the job...would you?...lol
My point exactly, Giradi gets as good as he can get out of this group. I'd like to see Jeter get into the ownership group where he'd have the authority and the nads to fire Cashman. O'Neilwould not put up with the BS and I'm sure he'd be on to personnel changes like white on rice.
I'd love to see either Jeter or O'Neill on the bench & Showalter. Joe "quick hook" Girardi can't do very much with the offense though sometimes his batting order blows my mind because apparently he doesn't want to offend anyone. Bottom line I wouldn't shed any tears if he got canned. With that said, as I mentioned last night was the league leading 22nd time in 51 games that the team scored 2 runs or less & that's just pathetic.
If and when the time comes I'd rather stay away and move on from the past. No links back to history and trying to recreate glory years. Also, the problem with bringing in old fan favorites is that you eventually have to fire them. Imagine the issue a Don Mattingly would've presented? To me if you're going to move on then move on. Don't dive back into your past.
Jeter has no love lost for trashman. If he had the authority to do so he would have a public hanging for him.
Yep, they had quite the set to on Jeters last contract. Cashman showed mostly stupidity mixed with little respect. A man with Jeters ability and contributions must finish his career as a Yankee but old Brain couldn't figure that one out. One of the top Yankees ever, come on Hal get Jeter into the group so he can show Cashman the door followed by a well placed kick.
