Can't think of Ali without hearing Howard Cosell's voice in my head. Hope they're sharing some memories tonight.
Bummer! RIP. Funny how reviled he was, for years. Then came the attempts to sanitize him. Both equally unfair. A fighter in and out of the ring. We'll not see his like again.
The movie with Will Smith is pretty much the extent of my knowledge of Muhammad Ali, yet this is still very sad to me. I'm gonna check out that documentary.
He lived long and had an eventful, remarkable life. His passing should be joyous for all of humanity that survive him for we can be continuously inspired and entertained by his legacy. I don't feel any desire to mourn his passing, just gratefulness for having lived during his life time. May all humans regardless of their status or station be treated as warmly in their passing as, Muhammad Ali aka Cassius Clay, shall deservedly be.
"You know I’m bad. Just last week, I murdered a rock, injured a stone, hospitalized a brick. I’m so mean, I make medicine sick." RIP Mr. Ali
I'm glad Ali was able to end his days in happiness and surrounded by the kind of idol worship he truly deserved. Boxers see the highest of highs but the lowest of lows as well. Ali was with a doubt the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. I think only his idol Sugar Ray Robinson pips him for the P4P title. Definitely will never see his like again. RIP Great One.
cant wait to see what Floyd Mayweather has to say... something like "RIP to the 2nd greatest boxer ever" u can just see it coming tho...
At the beginning of the internationalization of TV, Ali was the meme creator: "Float Like a Butterfly, Sting like a Bee!" "Thrilla in Manilla" "Greatest of all Tiiiime."
There's literally no highlight better than that one. Ever! Such Bravado. I will stand in this corner and show the whole world that this man can't hit me. Muhammad Ali. Thank you for everything you've done for me Muhammad. Lots of people hated you for what you did and how you did it (like casting away your slave name). I loved every minute of it. I learned how to protest. My mother used you and your actions as teaching moments with regard to standing up for what one believes in. You showed draft dodgers and chickenhawks what should have been done from the beginning, stay out of the war. And you went to prison rather than defer like a Cheney or a Drumpf, (we know why there was prison for Ali but French maids for Mitt Romney) because you didn't believe in it. You fought another fight that I don't have to. Today my ballot comes to my mailbox and I can either vote for a giant douche or a turd sandwich. Well, the douche is a chickenhawk and the turd is a war monger... or is the douche the war monger? I forget... The people who showed us how to be real... Leading by example... they're dying... And it's a shame. You never knew me and you did so much for me... I will pay it forward. RIP GOAT ALI. I was not worthy.
