You gotta be FUCKING kidding me...

    Drumpf, Cheney, Bush, Romney.

Those are fucking chickenhawk ass, deferment taking, draft dodgers!

Drumpf said he had bone spurs.

Willard was on a "Mormon mission" in France.

Fucking Ted Nugent SHIT HIS PANTS to avoid going. It literally scared the SHIT out of him.

Ali stood up for what he believed in. Nonviolently. So he said Whites were his enemies.

    You mad bro?

    You should be ashamed.

If those guys are "draft dodgers" then so is Bernie Sanders.

Denny, in response to your earlier comment, clearly Trump was acquainted with Ali. But the point people are making is that when Pres. Obama pleaded against prejudice, pointing out there are Muslims in all walks of life in the US, including sports heroes, Trump's immediate response was to say no way Muslims are sports heroes. He could hardly have been unaware that Ali (not to mention Kareem) were Muslim. What is shows is someone who speaks without thinking, goes off half-cocked, is so focused on denouncing an opponent he does not take the time to figure out if what was said is factually true. Now, all of us on the board, myself included, have done that at times. But none of us are running for president. Publicly shooting off one's mouth without thinking or ascertaining facts us not IMHO something I would like to see in the President of the United States.

Ali was the greatest. End. Full stop. Can't take that from him.

Trump doesn't want to exile all muslims. It is you and Maddow and the rest of the press mischaracterizing what he said.

    http://www.cnn.com/2015/12/07/politics/donald-trump-muslim-ban-immigration/

"Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on," a campaign press release said.

(It doesn't excuse his being a racist asshole, but that doesn't excuse mischaracterizing what he's said and proposes).

He also didn't question that there are muslim athletes. He just challenged Obama to name any.

Another mischaracterization. In fact, I challenge you to support the text in red in your post with any kind of legitimate proof.

I don't think it's right to call Ali a hero. He was a nice man who did a lot of good for black people and people with Parkinsons, but a hero? No. He was extremely racist, or said a lot of racist things, which apparently means you are racist. He was a brilliant fighter, and a great ambassador for the sport. IMO, easily the greatest athlete of his time

I know you'll enjoy this, since it's one of your sources:

    http://www.politifact.com/new-jerse...l-group-claims-mitt-romney-dick-cheney-donal/

Liberals Are Cool may not like that these men didn’t face combat, but calling them ‘draft dodgers’ is wrong – and ridiculous. As a result, we’re cranking up the heat for this ruling: Pants on Fire!

(Aside from that, I don't know if any of them supported the Vietnam war and avoided going to fight. Wanting to avoid going to LBJ's war was one of the sanest things anyone could do.)

I don't think so. Did he think Obama was going to respond to his tweet? Of course not.

Already addressed your nonsense in post #60:

Some took Mr. Trump’s message as a slight against Ali and other prominent Muslim athletes, and others as ignorance of Ali’s religion.

Mr. Trump said the Twitter post was not meant to criticize Muslim athletes. “I’m saying, ‘What sport is he talking about, and who?’ I know there are many great Muslim athletes in soccer and other sports.”

He added, “All I’m saying is, ‘I’d like him to name them because I agree there are some. That’s not a knock by any stretch of the imagination.’”

Mr. Trump said he was well aware of Muslim sports stars. “I know who they are. I mean, look, Muhammad Ali is somebody that I’ve liked for a long time — and I know he’s Muslim.“

Mr. Gunnell said Ali had not been concerned with what Mr. Trump said on Twitter.

Yes, you already addressed it by repeating Trump's attempt at spin as if it was the truth.

“All I’m saying is, ‘I’d like him to name them because I agree there are some."

Sure. Donald just wanted a list, because he knew there were some? Uh huh, tell me more stories, Denny.

    You're no stranger to spin.

How about he thinks Obama is clueless, and he's right about that in most cases.

Sure, he thinks the muslim kenyan president doesn't know which sports stars are muslim.

    Yep, that makes sense...

Any chance we can move the political posts in this thread to some other thread on some other board? Or really, just Denny and Barfo's posts?

I would probably have a strong hatred for white people if I grew up during the same time period as Ali.

Letting go of emotions like that can be extremely difficult.

Example - not all high school football players are bullies, but if you're a nerd and enough football players push you into a locker, you're going to have a strong fear of football players. It's an animal instinct that we developed to keep ourselves alive.

Bears don't always eat people..... but they do eat people..... therefor I should probably stay away from bears.
