I know I believe Ingram would be better fit than Simmons on there team. They need players that can shoot from the outside. Simmons game right now of his shots are within 5 to 10 feet. Yes he can do a lot of good things but with no 3 point shot teams defend that stuff. Just put it this way I am not sold on Simmons. Yes as I said if he can make 3 pointer that would open his whole game but until than I would go for Ingram.
Lebrons jumper was twice as good as Simmons and he was also twice the finisher and 5 times the defender. Simmons is closer to being Chandler Parsons with no jumper than Lebron James
Well with their assets they could probably get a backcourt player who can shoot. I heard they are also expecting Embiid to stretch the floor but I'm not sure how that would work with him never having that sort of game before from what I remember (he knocks them at workouts but it's a different kettle). I think they will trade Okafor for #3 plus player with Boston or get Noel out for Schroder/Teague. There's absolutely no way they will go into next season with three prominent centers. I reckon trading Noel would make more sense but then again #3 pick is also tempting as it likely means Hield/Dunn/Murray available to bolster the backcourt. It'd make perfect sense to swap with Boston as Boston need a scoring frontcourt player way more than they need another backcourt players when they have Thomas, Bradley and Smart. And if they get someone like Buddy Hield then 3-pointers will not be as much of an issue as they are now. They should also be a player in free agency. Dellavedova and Lee will be available and both are good shooters. There will probably be some forwards who can shoot too (Bazemore?). Covington stetches the floor very well too.
You try to be motivated on a shitty team with a shitty coach. Simmons did LSU a massive favor by picking them so I say he gets to quit on them when he finds out how crappy they are. Basically it's the poor man's Durant vs. the poor man's LeBron. Simmons would be the #1 pick if he was coming straight out of high school, and he put up pretty amazing numbers in his first year of college. I think if you're an established team you probably prefer Ingram. But if you're a lottery team with more flux you want Simmons. There are a lot of players who are tall and can shoot, like Simmons Ingram. There are basically 2 or 3 players who can pass like Simmons at his height. And yes, he's a much better rebounder than Ingram. Of course, both of them could be busts. Ingram could be Jonathan Bender and Simmons could be Beasley. We'll see.
It's true you never know about these one and done's. Which is why it not smart to tank. (But that's for another thread.) Since neither of these guys are good enough now to star in this league, you really need a good GM who does his homework and can best guess which will work the hardest to get better.
As a Lakers' fan, I'm really hoping for Ingram. Spaces the floor much better, has an effortless jumper, and has all the tools to develop into an above average defender.
Simmons has some serious skills to his game. College ball was effortless for him and he still put up like 19/14. Ingram looks like he has a really slow release to me. Don't see him being very effective as a primary scorer in the NBA. Regardless of all that, Simmons' ceiling projects to be a superstar while Ingram's doesn't. For that reason alone, this HAS to be BS. Very surprised by poll results so far.
Same. I'd take Simmons ten times out of ten. Only five players on court & need to maximize the talent you can get. Simmons has more talent than Ingram IMO.
Better fighting for the ball in traffic. His tools/motor will translate better to the NBA in that respect.
Doubt it. Simmons is pretty immersed into American culture. The guy played AAU ball with D'Angelo Russell even. No way the scouts look at him differently because he's an Aussie. Bogut went #1. Exum went top 5. I think it might have more to do with his alligator arms.
