Just so I can be sure that I'm reading you correctly--you believe that any/all of the players that were in the top 20 in MVP voting in 1986 would--if their 1986 selves played in 2016, would have been in the top 2 in MVP voting this year? Am I misinterpreting you here?

I feel the need to quote this. I knew it was going to lead to nothing but more arguments.

Apparently I need to come up with some evidence that there hasn't been a widespread genetic mutation causing people to be born less talented at basketball. Ok.

So you have an issue with one of my 3rd tier guys and that renders the multitude of other names meaningless? Maybe Kerr doesn't belong - I shot that list off from the hip - but in each large tier there will be varying degrees of talent.

I was just listing names. No, not all those players played at the same time, but A LOT of them did. My argument is that if you take the top talent of any single season of the 80s and 90s, that 90% or more of those seasons will have better and deeper talent than we've seen in the NBA for the past few seasons, and probably the next several too.

People always want something to hate on. It's not acceptable to be racist or sexist anymore, so people just start hating on generations. It's ok, people being good today, doesn't make your favorite players of the past any less good. It's gonna be ok...

It's never been acceptable to be racist or sexist, no matter the generation. Ignorance does not mean automatic acceptance.

But that's a completely different topic.

It was at one time. It was enforced by law.

It's sickening. Still ignorance, even if law. But sickening. Glad the times have changed.

Certainly the top 10 would, as well as Worthy, McHale, and Dantley.

Steve Kerr is not on par with Cousins or Lillard or Harden. He was a role player, much like most of the NBA is today. A 3pt specialist.

Now if only we could get people to stop stereotyping whole generations of people! Maybe people will see the connection.

I'd also point out that Bernard King was hurt most of that season. The year before he led the league in scoring at 32PPG and a 25 PER.
