The media is being dishonest IMO. I notice one thing when I turned on the news: There's a real lack of specifics in this discussion. The kind of radicalism that is what should be talked about is Salafi-Jihadism, which has become disturbingly prevalent in the West amongst disaffected young Muslims and in isolated cases is being pushed in mosques which received funding from the Saudis to preach Wahabism. It isn't about Ahmadi Muslims, who actively preach peace and coexistence (in no small part due to the huge persecution they've faced), or the (largely Sunni) Kurds who have recently guaranteed minority rights in regions under their control (going so far as to reopen synagogues left by fleeing Iraqi Jews in the 40s and 50s and encouraging Israeli tourism), or the Druze community which draws much from Shia Islam and is universally lauded in Israel for how agreeable and loyal it is. I don't want the media to negatively talk about the local kebab shop owners either. I guess what I'm just saying is that we should recognise the heightened risk of Islamic terror in today's world, try to understand its causes and not pretend it doesn't exist. We also need a frank discussion about the kind of values being pushed in today's madrasas and faith schools of all kinds. We need to be able to integrate the next generation of Western Muslims.

I do wonder how the exits were there. In Vegas I see emergency exits that have 15 second timers before they open. Those should be illegal, don't know if they had anything like that.
Orlando might have a sleeper cell within its communities. Either that or this is a one off thing and he was expressing his stupid opinion. This story is playing out similarly to the Brussels bombing where the communities had the curtain pulled back on them and got publicly identified as hotbeds for radicalization.
You've gotta think that some of the dead were probably in the closet to their families and they will be shocked hearing they were there.
A man with assault rifles was arrested early Sunday after telling cops his destination was the Pride parade later today in West Hollywood ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ. Our sources say Santa Monica PD responded to a prowler call and found the man nearby the house that was allegedly targeted. We're told he informed cops he was on his way to meet a friend for the Pride parade 10 miles away in WeHo. At a point cops searched his car and our sources say they found multiple assault rifles with a number of loaded magazines that were stacked and taped together -- a marker for someone looking to fire multiple rounds in rapid succession.
